Where to go in Puerto Rico? |
I would like get married in San Juan, Puerto Rico this September. We're going on a cruise from there and my fiance and I would like to get married that day before we board our cruiseship. I've seached all over the internet - and i'm having trouble finding somewhere to have our wedding. We want it to be very simple, just the two of us, on the beach or some other naturally beautiful place and we are not looking to spend alot. All we really need is a place for the ceromony and an officiant. Does anyone have any sugguest or know someone/somewhere I can get some real information? If so...thanks! |

Try these places:
Botanical Garden: http://www.upr.clu.edu/jardin/JardiAct.htm
(787) 763-4408 - Daisy Santiesteban
In the Condado area (next to San Juan) there are 3 lovely plazas. Parque Antonia Quinones, and Ventana al Mar y El Indio that are beach front.
Plaza de la Gran Ventana al Mar - San Juan: Condado
787-721-2400, 787-722-1709, 787-722-5208FX
Ave. Ashford

You can see them at:

Try calling San Juan City Hall: (787) 724-7171 / 723-7800.
For El Morro or Castillo San Cristobal call National Park Service (787) 729-6777
Good luck! |

No church wedding? Only civil? You do need to get in touch with the court and find out how to get an officiant for a couple out of state. They should tell you if it's even possible to get an officiant out of the court to celebrate it.
I just read an article saying that the Senate has approved for Notaries to perform the rituals since only priests, pastors, and judges were the only ones to do this. If you get a judge, he's not supposed to get "paid for it" between the hours of 9-5pm, if it's before or after, he can ask for a fee. You must have a medical clearance before the wedding (that's everywhere in the island) whether or not you are a resident.
Visit this site, and half way through there is marriage info you could use. Hope this helps.

If you are staying at a hotel by the beach, you could even perform the wedding there at your hotel. |

there is a hotel there .... it's a very old nunnery that people rent out. has a nice ambiance to it.
the beach would be a great option. the cruise ships have little chapels. we met a couple on one , we were table mates. table of 8, they invited all six of us to their wedding. after the wedding there was a lounge area and they delivered a small cake for us and they served campaigne. was quite an honor / fun experience. |
