Being an avid Traveler to Jamaica I would recommend.
Spend your first few days in Montego Bay Then head to the west to Negril for a week. Negril is kind of a Party area but also has the best Sunsets you will ever see.
in Negril you can even cliff Dive. and the 7 Miles of Beaches are very beautiful. there are a Lot of things to do in Negril.
Then I would head Back south and spend at least 4 or 5 days in Ocho Rios there are some really neat things there such as Dunn's river Falls. I would also recommend that you spend your Last night in Montego Bay. that way you do not have to take a long bus ride to the airport and you wont have to rush.
Hope you have a good time. The Island and people of Jamaica are some of the friendliest in the World.
I will be in Negril Dec 30Th. |

I have been going to Jamaica since 1988 and I stay at Breezes. It is an alinclusive resort and is wonderful. There is something for everyone and all ages. I really like the one in Runaway Bay. It is about one and one half hour from the airport and so many sights to see.The one in Montego Bay is only a few miles from the airport. You see so much of the country side on the ride to Runaway Bay. Dunns River Falls is a must to see. Also if you can become friends with a local, have them to go with you in the mountains called Brownstown. It is not on the tourist route. It is such a beautiful old town. If you ride the bus the locals ride to the mountains, you can see so much and learn so much about their culture. Their jerk chicken is wonderful., as well as the salt fish. I could tell you so much more about Jamaica and the people, but Iam out of time for now. I hope this will help you to decide as to where you want to go... |

I live in Jamaica and I would definately recommend that you stay in Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. These are tourist area and guaranteed you will have a good time there. You could try staying at the Sandals Resorts or Breezes Resorts. They are all inclusive and you can even get tours of the area as well.
In Jamaica you MUST visit one of our beautiful beaches. Visit Dunn's River Falls, Magaritta Ville or any of our night clubs. Please ensure that you get a taste of our cuisine especially some jerk chicken or ackee & saltfish.
Enjoy! |

Take a look on www.tripadvisor.co.uk - they have real people reviews. It all depends exactly what you looking for - im flying out in 2 weeks and will be stopping at Club Ambiance which is a fantastic small all inclusive adults only resort in Runaway Bay! As for Jamaica being dangerous - i have been going to to this resort for 4 years and i walk the streets of an evening going in random bars and have never experienced any problems people only want to talk to you about what Englands like etc etc. Every country and town has a dangerous or rough part, you just have to stay aware..... Dont carry loads of money with you, dont flash off too much jewellery, usual stuff, and as for Cocaine i live in the middle of Birmingham and everyone is at it - its big money! |

One of your best bets is to rent a villa from an individual. This is especially true if you can find another couple or two to split the cost. Many of these come with a housekeeper and a cook. The cooks are wonder-full. There are several sites that list properties for rent by owner. VRBO is a good one that we have used several times. You should rent a car and the house keeper can recommend someone to give you a private tour at a very low cost. Ocho Rios or Negril are good areas. |

Sandals, Beaches, Star Fish resort and lots more. You chose the right island. Stick to Ocho Rios, Negril, Falmouth, Run away bay, montego Bay and those coastal areas.
You have to visit Dunn River falls by the way. You'll love it. It's in Ohco rios |

If you're up for a really wild time, try Hedonism 3 in Runaway Bay. For a tamer, more refined trip, try Sandals Royal Carribbean. |

I stayed at 'Couples' in Ocho Rios in April 2005 and really enjoyed it. As the name suggests it's a couples only resort, all inclusive, loads of watersports, tennis, squash, private beach, its own nudist island (if you're onto that sort of thing!) etc. Food and drink was great and some sort of entertainment every evening.
You can swim with dolphins just down the road which is expensive but a must do if you haven't done it before. Free excursions included Dunns River Falls and pony trekking (VERY tame) and a catamaran cruise to the absolutely idyllic No Problem Cove.
I'm going back to Jamaica in April 2007 but staying at Couples Negril this time.
Have a great time. |

Jamaica is beautiful. You have to visit Dunn's River Falls in Ochos Rio, Kingston deserves a visit. You do have to be very careful though. Crime there is crazy, so be careful. In the middle of the day it's not uncommon, in some places, to be in the middle of gang violence. Just like anywhere, be aware of your surroundings. |

I have spent 20 years in Jam. off and on and the country has become so dangerous today because of Cocaine I would recommend going some where else for your vacation. The places which have been recommended below are restriced/walled/gated tourist traps. |
