Where to stay in puerto rico? |
My husband and I are going on a trip over Labor Day to Puerto Rico. The trip is a surprise for him, so I want it to be great. He is a surfer, so I would like to rent a board for him while we are there. I heard Rincon was a good place to surf but I am open to any suggestions. Also we are flying in to San Juan and want to explore that area. I need a recommendation for a hotel in San Juan and atleast one night where we go for surfing. Also should I rent a car or are there any options for traveling between areas? We are pretty picky about the hotel being clean, so I don't expect to pay less than $125 a night. |

Hey, if your husband likes to surf he will love Puerto rico, especially Rincon. It is a surfer's paradise. I think it is better to stay outside of San Juan anyway. I personally love the embassy suites in Dorado(20 minutes from San Juan). It is clean & beautiful & worth the price. Less than $200 a night for room w/ balcony.
But if you want to stay in Rincon, which is about 2 hrs from San Juan. You should rent a car & check out these hotels on the link below. There are not many big hotels in Rincon, mostly smaller ones & condos. But you can still get a great & clean room.

Also while you are there don't forget to visit some of the other great sites like One of the bioluminescent Bays, the water glows in the dark when you touch it!! Its truly amazing. There is one not too far from Rincon called La Parguera. Take a small boat out, not a glass bottom boat & you can touch the water, $5 per person.
Also El Yunque rain forest is beautiful & Camuy Caves you can visit on your way to Rincon from San Juan. Also eat the local food it is delicious! ENJOY! & GOODLK! |

Rincon is a 2 hour drive from San Juan. I will recommend the Rincon Beach Hotel, is actually not in Rincon but in Aguada, is a nice hotel with beach front, pools and a good restaurant. You can drive to the surfing beach in Rincon. Stop in the drive to eat "frituras" and "pastelillitos" in one the spot a long the road. In San Juan my choice is the Caribe Hilton is one the best hotels in P. R. with a private beach, probably the only one in the island available for tourist, beautiful views to the sea, the San Geronimo Castle and Condado. Look for higher floors. The restaurants, the bar and the pools are first class. You can also check the Marriott Hotels in Condado and Isla Verde.
Be sure that you rent the car in the airport because some companies are outside.
Buen Viaje. |

Congratulations! I love to give my husband surprises like that one too. Well Rincon is great for surfers. Check Rincon of the Seas Hotel, I think is one of the best of the area (1-787-823-7500. I don't surf but heard about Crash boat beach is the best for surfers in the area. Rent a Car check for a company near the Isla Verde Area but outside the Airport, is going to be less expensive. Try AAA Car Rental or Vias or even Charlie Car Rental they will pick you up and take you back to the airport. If you have a late flight definitely stay one night at San Juan or nearby areas like Dorado (like someone else said) There is a lot good hotels in Condado and Isla Verde. One of the most expensive are Ritz . Check the Carvernas of Camuy and The Lighthouse of Rincon, and La Parguera in Lajas Bioluminicent Bay. are great! Enjoy PR |

Puerto Rico have a few beaches to surf. If you go to Rincon going to be excellent for him, but how about you? I suggest you explore the alternative to go to Luquillo, is a nice place on one side you have La Pared is a surfer beach on the another have one of the best beach of Puerto Rico. Luquillo and Fajardo are more close to the airport than Rincon. But to be honest I'm not a surfer. You can stay in Fajardo (Hotel Conquistador), is quiet close to Luquillo or Rio Grande (Westin Rio Mar). You can check more information on the following websites: www.prtourism.com/ www.gotopuertorico.com/
About the car, I really recommend that you rent a car, because is the best way to enjoy Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is big, if you really want to see all the interesting places, but if you just want to cross Puerto Rico from East to West, can take around four hours. That means that anyway, you can go to Rincon. Please, visit the websites of Puerto Rico to find more information.
For the different Hotels, car rentals and others, you can compare prices with my Agency www.dtourtravel.com We work with all the Airlines, Over 55,000 Hotels & Resorts, 27 Cruises Lines, Car Rentals and a lot more!!! We guarantee our prices, if you find a better price than us (with the same conditions) Our Company going to give you the best price plus 10% additional.
Tip: Never arrive to the Car Rental Office before call or make reservation, because the price going to be very expensive. |

We stayed at the Intercontinental at Isla Verde. It was a nice hotel but found it too expensive to eat at. There was a small plaza sort of across the street and a few restaurants in the neighbourhood. It was also clean. I don't know if you'd get much for $125.00/night. As far as driving.....we drive alot and thought that the traffic there was nuts. Puerto Rico is a big island and it seems to take a long time to get anywhere. We didn't see much at all cuz most of our time was spent just trying to get somewhere. If you want something cool to try do the Bio Bay tour. Have fun too. Nice place to visit. |
