Barbados is one of the best.
Information on Barbados
Barbados is a coral island, pushed out of sea by volcanic activity in a far away time. On the West Coast of Barbados, coral shore beaches of fine white sand stretch along a blue-green sea. Coral reefs fringe the Barbados shoreline to provide excellent snorkeling and Scuba Diving. Along the East Coast a lively surf is blown briskly by the strong and constant trade winds and the waves pound against a rocky shore. The constant breeze of the trade winds gives Barbados a mild and pleasant tropical climate.
When you visit Barbados, you will see it is mostly a flat coral island with excellent beaches, but there are rolling hills and many deep ridges and gullies, with an interesting distribution of flora and fauna. Within the Barbados coral core there is a vast array of caves and underground lakes which provide an excellent supply of drinking water that is amongst the purest in the world. Geologically Barbados is unique, being actually two land masses that merged together over the years. This and other anomalies make this Caribbean Island quite phenomenal, and there are geological structures that you will find only in Barbados.
Barbados is a very beautiful island, with lots of art, activities, night life, music, history and some of the best restaurants to be found anywhere. But what makes Barbados even more special, and the reason why so many visitors keep returning to the island year after year, is the people. Barbadians, called Bajans, are warm and friendly souls, always ready to greet you with a sincere smile. Barbadians make you feel welcome and special, in this lovely Caribbean Island. You will feel its your home and will want to come back again and again to Barbados: A unique Caribbean paradise, surprisingly sophisticated, friendly, fun and always Naturally Charming!

You should also take a trip to a popular fishing village (Oistins) on a Friday night where you can get some grill fish, grill potatoes and tartar sauce. Afterward, you can go and see the locals and visitors dancing in the open air to some vintage oldies. This is a sight to behold. There is also craft sold at this location.

For snorkeling Saba is just the best. I think you can take a day boat from St. Martin.
For diving Belize. The hole is amazing.
For sunbathing in the nude,or not, St. Martin. Plus lots of water activities and the beach even offers fun shopping. The BEST, and the highest, parasailing I ever did was at St. Martin. If you have the chance try the buffet dinner at Captain Oliver's.
St. Kitt's, well I don't think the Batik factory is still there but seeing the wild monkey's is fun and eating at some of the plantations is quite an experience.
St. Eustatias can be very emotional when you "walk the slave walk". This is the road down to where they put the slaves on the boats. The Island also sports the best bread ever, baked in outdoor stone ovens.
Antiqua is okay, the history interesting.
Perhaps you should also think beyond the Carribean. The Dominican Republic can be very inexpensive, and safe, if you are staying at one of the hotels (compounds). Just remember, the employees at the all-inclusive don't get to keep tips. So bring gum, pens/markers that hang around your neck, baby clothes, fingernail polish, etc. These little things will make all the difference as they get to keep them. A pack of gum and they will remember you forever. We brought school supplies and our guide on one of the tours stopped at a local school so we could donate them.
You can rent a condo in a secured compound for $850 per week in St. Thomas. With a rental car you can experience Meagans' Bay, one of the worlds most beautiful beaches, and even take the ferry over to St. John's.
Jamaica offers a lot for the adventurous and non adventurous traveler.
I would suggest you make a list of the top 15 things that interest you and go from there. Each Island is special in it's own way. Good luck and have a great time. |

The Cayman Islands.
It's just like being in the US, they speek English, their friendly, and things are about the same price, if not cheaper.
Plus it's beutiful, and has a wide diversity of caribean, and us culture.
Plus, there have non stop flights to Miami.
There's fishing tours, and condos to rent right on the beach. |
