July 1st would be right on time for Carnival on St. John. You also get a bonus of being able to travel to St. Thomas and St. Croix and Puerto Rico if you want. It's up to you to decide what flavor you want. Puerto Rico is huge and if you don't mind traveling a lot you get the best of both worlds: a bustling metropolis with all the creature comforts you're used to on the mainland and a natural paradise (albeit they're some distance apart). If you want something similar but don't enjoy extensive road trips or additional flying then you'd like St. Thomas; it's the "big city" of the USVI. If you want to kick back and relax then go for St. Croix. Here are some links to help you decide.
I'm all in favor of St. Thomas though. That's my home island. :) |

Of course the answers are biased! We are all proud of our islands.

Go to St. Thomas or St. John or Both. If you stay on the East end of St. Thomas you can catch a ferry in the morning over to St. John catch a safari taxi and spend your day at Trunk Bay. There is an Island in the middle of bay that you can swim out to and snorkel around. When you are on your way back to the ferry you can check out some of coastal like shopping in the area at Mongoose Junction. While on St. Thomas you should go to Magens Bay once voted one of the Ten most beautiful beaches in the world by National Geographic. You should also check Coki point another beautiful beach with wonderful snorkeling and great natural aquarium next store called coral world. One of their aquariums sits right in the water basically looks out into the real coral reef in the area. It is really cool. Then you should check out the view from Mountain Top oh yeah and their strawberry Daiquiris. One thing that St. Thomas has that neither Puerto Rico or St. John is a lot of beautiful hillside views. Almost everywhere you go on the north side of the island is Spectacular. Also there are some cool pirate castles on the Island both Blue Beard and Black Beard the pirate had castles there and they are great places to go see. If you do this go to black beards castle and ninety nine steps in the morning shop on main street just down hill walk away that afternoon and good to Blue Beards Castle that night and eat the restaurant with no name right next to a room with a view.
If any of this sounds interesting drop me an email I can give you more advice.
Oh yeah and the culture of St. Thomas is very complex like many of the Islands in the Caribbean music is important as well as dancing. There many organizations that put on cultural events year round. One place you can go to check out local art and culture is at the Tillet Gardens. Really cool
Also you don't need a passport to go to any of the Islands because they are all American territories.
The Seaplane is definitely a good idea It would be completely possible to do both or even all three. It is about a 30 minute hop over to Puerto Rico. All three Islands are really America's Paradise, but don't forget the best rum comes from St. Croix. My answer is biased though, what can I say I like my hometown. Go Antilles Hurricanes. |

these answers are so bias you can do both! Puerto Rico and the USVI are a stones throw away from each other catch the sea plane and stop being lazy. you'll experience two beautiful places and won't regret not going to either one. |

British Islands are far and away nicer then US Virgin Is. and crime rate is lower. |

My pick is USVI . St John is a great island with 39 pristine beaches. That's my pick.
Good Luck and enjoy) |

Puerto Rico has the option of American entertainment, and Latin/Caribbean Life, USVI are like a coast town in the US but with nicer beaches and warmer weather, Puerto Rico COULD be a more cultural rich experience |
