Which do you prefer...?

Ah Hindu wedding or a christian wedding...
Hear nah... last week ah end up in a maticoor and if yuh see waist flinging all over de place especially from dem old ladies.
Ah mean reall ting...
They had orchestra and clico shiv shakti and adesh 'rum till i die' samaroo.
Hear nah... was ting fuh so.
And dis boy (the groom...my best pal) sit down near me an rub up all he saffron on my white clothes too!
An walkin round wid my white purse.
But earlier in de day ah had was to help dem peel tacaree and ting... dat was saturday cause dey was patching lawah dat night.
But then ah ask mehself if all dis therapy was worth it cause after Friday Saturday and sunday man tired like dog and I still had was to go back yesterday to help cook and ting for all de people who help etc.
In dem christian wedding is just buy a dress an reach in de church...
If ah end up marriding de man I expect to... he say we having both cause I'm CHristian and he is Hindu... so look at trouble for me.

oo gorm, ah love ah hindu wedding, as long as me ent the one getting married there. pass thu friday night and eat all dat food. pass thru saturday night, eat the food and watch dem ole ooman wine lol, pass thru sunday for the wedding and take in the ceremony and thing.

It havebenefits to ah hindu wedding:
channa and aloo cheap
family does come and cook up all the food and ent complain bout the cooking
friends and d rest ah family does send food to cook
nuff cash does flow during the three days, especially on d sunday.

On the other hand, channa and aloo is the only cheap thing about the wedding.

yuh hadda get 3 sari to wear and ah wedding gown,
yuh hadda hire ah orchestra
yuh hadda hire ah tassa group to play
yuh hadda buy jewellery for the girl mother, your mother, yuh wife etc
and any and every body does pass in to eat yuh food.

Christian wedding on the other hand is one day, and if yuh go to the right place and have yuh guess list in order you could control who attending the reception to drink out yuh alco and eat out yuh food.

Meh cousin getting married and she planning to have oildown and stew chicken lol, or coocoo and callaloo and stew fish. she ent going for the traditional roti, or bake chicken and fried rice. She getting married to ah man from Coast Guard and like real fishermen, dey could hold dey liquer, so dey decided to keep the menu simple and have a steady supply the alco.

Ohh lawd, after all that i still ent answer the question, gimme ah christian wedding anyday, have ah bouncer at the gate with ah guess list, have your guess walkl with their invitation and if you ent have no invites, you ent coming in.

OK TriniSoccer - if you eh get best answer for dis one i boycotting dis answers ting. Why you have me laughing so boy?
My story not so funny, but last year my cousin decide she getting married in Tobago too..yes yes, i know bout dat one road in Tobago ting. Now because it hard to get ting in Tobago - we ship everyting over on de boat..flowers, decorations and DE CAKE - who tell we to take a 3-tiered wedding cake to Tobago on de boat? If you see how dat cake mash up mash up from the moving of de boat - tank gawd the bride wasn't around to see the damage, because 1- i thought that was the funniest thing i ever saw and i choke because i laugh too much, and 2 - she would ah cry and dead if she saw it. Thankfully we found a master cake decorator in tobago who made the cake look 10 times better than it did when we first found it.

But anyway...as usual, Izzy digresses. I love to go to Hindu weddings - the ceremony, the ritual, the women getting together to cook, the tassa group warming up over the fire - man i used to look forward to those things..
But you're also right about Christian weddings being a TAD less work. If i ever take that plunge the less work i have to do the better.

Sorry to say but I never went to a Hindu wedding. Ah, cah find a nice indian gurl to luv meh. :-(

I don't care what and who having the wedding as long as mey partner Jonnie Black dey we go have a good time.

While we on wedding leh tell all yuh a story. This is true, true story.

Meh partner call meh and tell meh he getting married. Ah say WHA!!! Yuh just meet the gurl two months ago. Anyway, he say he getting married in Tobago and want meh dey.

So, I take meh gurl and meh sister and we gone Tobago for wedding. Now every body staying in a place near the airport and the wedding taking place in Roxbourogh. Now if all yuh doh know that is on the next side of the island.

Saturday morning everybody hook up and we start the drive around 10:30. Now the one road Tobago have is whine around the island edge. So yuh twisting and turning and the rental cars doh have so much power. That is where the trouble start. You in yuh nice clothes and we ha to turn the AC off so the car could climb hill. Boy, after 2 hours ah driving and we aint reach yet we stop off at a little rum shop and everybody get out dey car and we gone and drink and play pool. Now while we doing that the bride sit down in she car and vex. We didn't care and no body had breakfast.

So we gone again. Get to the church and had a nice wedding t'ing. That last about an hour. Now is back the other way for the reception. You know after that long drive to get dey and everybody hungry the bridal party decide them driving slow and blowing horn? Well it was fun for the first 5 min but after that, nah, I had to peel out.

Remember we leave at 10:30 and we now get back at around 3:30 in the evening. Everybody, except the bride and groom, reach back around 4:15.

Now we sitting at the table, outside to boot, waiting. So I call the groom on the phone to find out how far are they. The man tell me that dey go be dey in 45 min because they gone to take pictures. Well I was like wha d mudder, wha d mudder so and so is this. So I gone up to the hostess, with mey fass self, "Ms Lady, yuh t'ink you could serve the audours and drinks until the bridal party come?" "Dis is them wedding me a'int serving nothing until they reach!" and she gone. Lovingly I approach his father. He father look at meh and gone in he room and slam the door.

Ah telling all yuh people hungry. Well, my gurl and sister put on they swim wear and gone down by Ms. Jean on the beach to eat, leaving my hungry @$$ dey.

People ah get vex. Ah went to the parlor across the street buy some crix, corn-curl, and swee' drink and share it out to the guess. Everybody eat like it was mannar from heavan. You know after these F-ing Trini's eat my sh!t some ah them go tell me I shouldn' t have done that. Well them who say that getting from the other people. Bridal party a'int reach yet.

Meh sister and gurl come back, belly full and they a'int bring nothing for the @$$ to eat.

Yuh know when the bridal party reach instead ah sharing out food they making speach!!!

From then on everytime I go a wedding it ha a box of KFC in meh trunk.

Gyul go under de Bamboo, I born and bred a Muslim and marry into a Hindu Family.... I enjoy my bamboo wedding

The ceremony is beautiful and every one in my family had a part to play.... mih two brothers, mih "adopted" sister ( my lil bredda girlfren') mih Modda and fadda my aunties, mih uncles....

Coupla plusses with Hindu wedding... foodwise... no meat...and everybody does bring deh own alco...as for prep... every body who know how to cook coming to help cook and does who cyah cook sending thing to cook...

Yuh ent hadda rent no church.. yuuh could marrid in yuh back yard...

No posting of Bans... Christian wedding yuh hadda post bans 6 months before and if yuh intended is Catholic yuh go hadda do confirmation and ting more time... in Hindu wedding yuh ent have to do all dat.

Hindu wedding is a family affair... all dee wining and juking is part ah dee ting...

and to be honest.... traditional hindu wedding nite.. yuh supposed to have a lookanie in yuh bed so yuh do do nuttin'.... but yuh does be soooooo tired yuh does jess go and sleep and untie the kangan the next morning...

My wedding Started Friday morning and ended the next Thursday.... I did the whole ting get married stay with his side ... went home and had him come back for me... we went on honey moon a week after wedding when everyting settle down and all de people from foreign went home....

I'd do it again in a heart beat.
