While everyone is entitled to there opinion, Answers is for educated opinions, not "hear says" and assumptions, Jamaica is a wonderful island, yes crime exists but it really is only in some peoples fairy tale land that it doesn't. If the person who previously answered (and you know yourself) never left her hotel grounds then how would you know just how safe Jamaica is? And just to remind you the question was not only asking of safety. For the person who lived there for 2 1/2 years if it was so terrible why did you live there for that long? I live in Canada and my 13 yr old cousin was shot in her face on the public transit, and though that was a horrible experience I would not say that Canada is a terrible place to visit.
Jamaica is wonderful overall but the place I would best recommend is Negril or Ocho Rios. There is alot of entertainment on and off the Hotel grounds and the food and night life is simply amazing. My personal fave is Negril. |

I have not traveled the whole island by any means but I went to Royal Caribbean Sandal Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I have to say it was the BEST vacation I have ever taken. Even over my two trips to Hawaii. My husband and I want to go back so much! Everyday they have activities for the guests to do. Its all inclusive so you can eat and drink whenever you'd like. You can also be shuttled to the other 2 resorts in Montego Bay. You won't regret booking this trip. |

Dunns River Fall
I went on a Carnival Cruise and that was one of the excursions we could do! Took a rum runner cruise to the Waterfall. You get to climb the Waterfall and take a ton of photos. Remember its cheaper to bring a pair of water shoes than rent them! |

None as far as I am concerned. I did not think it was a safe place, and I understand that you should stay on your resort grounds. I absolutely did not like Jamaica, but if you go, Dunes river Falls is great. |

the first and forth persons dont seem to kno **** about jamaica. DONT LISTEN TO THEM. jamaica is a great place to be on holiday, u just have to know how to spend it with your best. jamaica is not the bad place people make it seem to be. i highly recomend it, the thing about tourist being killed and tour buses being hijaked is the dumbest load of bull crap i've ever heard. tourist have specially employed officers to keep tourist warm welcome and safe.
anyhow.... i think the western to northern coat would be best. anywhere in between negril to ocho rios. |

I have been to Jamaica 8 times and I have to say Negril, hands down.
I do suggest that it is fun to stay at an all-inclusive resort in Negril. Negril Gardens Resort. You are right on the beach. There is a bar there until 3am. Three meals a day. No one bothers you and there are tours you can go on too. |

YAY! I hope you guys have fun!
OK...
1) Negril is my favourite place on the island. I mean the hotels and the beaches are just amazing, i can't get enough. [Relaxation]
2) Dunn's River Falls and Mystic Mountains in Ocho Rios. At these places you can climb the falls go canopy zip lining through the trees and ride a bobsled (not on ice) [Outdoorsy fun]
3) Montego Bay. Not my fav but nice none-the-less. Beaches, hotels, nightlife. [Relaxation]
4) Kingston! This is where I live. People will always tell you that it's dangerous here but I've never been robbed, hijacked or shot at and I'm 19 and have lived here all my life. Clubs, Parties and Restaurants galore. [Nightlife]
5) South coast. [Yummy Food :)/Relaxation]
Hope this helped :). That list is in order by the way.
Have fun! :D
*best answer please! :D* |

There is no place in Jamaica that is safe. If you go stay on the resort grounds and don't even think of going inland for any reason.
Addendum: In my years there there was at least 1 tourist murdered each week including in Ocho Rios and tour buses were hijacked and everyone robbed. In Kingston a person was likely to be shot by the police just by being between them and the person they were chasing. It is a place on this earth that I will never return to. |
