St John is the most luxurious and is very tropical.

75% of St John is a national park. You have 39 unspoiled beaches to explore. Many hiking trails. Your family will love St John. You can snorkel, scuba, boating, sailing, hiking or just hanging out.

I like St Thomas for shopping, the beaches and activities. But I would not call St Thomas luxurious.

enjoy and good luck)

St John, but St Croix is very lush and green also, and is much less expensive and has many great beaches and three very good hotels with wonderful beaches, or you can go to downtown Christiansted with less expensive hotels and use Hotel on the Cay's beach which is a 5 minute boat ride away. It is a great beach.

The WEST end of St. Croix is lush and green. The East end is very dry. If you want to go to a quiet beach without a million people, or you want to go to a gay beach, St Croix is the best. There's not as much touristy stuff, but it is tropical. If you want to buy jewelry for low prices, St. Thomas is best. If money is no object, St. John is beautiful.

***Very Important***
The key to getting good (or even marginal) service from anyone in St. Croix is to remember the secret greetings: Before noon it's "Good morning".
Noon to 6 pm it's "Good afternoon"
After 6 pm it's "Good night" (NOT "good evening"

Cruzans do not like tourists on their island for the most part, even though it's a necessary part of their economy. If you use these greetings they think you are one of them or at least understand them and will open up and be very pleasant. These greetings should be used basically when you approach any person with whom you plan to interact. When you get within 8 feet of that person, smile and greet enthusiastically and you've got it made. Without the greeting, they may not even speak to you. It's just how it is.

St. Croix is a fascinating place to visit. It is the least expensive of the 3 US Virgin Islands to live in or visit.

I agree with the others, St. Thomas' Carnival is in April, so that would be fun for you and kids to experience. The Coral World on St. Thomas is perfect for kids too (water sports, submarine, very educational and fun). Keep in mind you can take a 15 minute boat ride(ferry) to St. John to enjoy the parks, hiking, etc. Also, you can take a 45 min. ride to Tortola (British Virgin Islands).

i am born and raised on st. croix so naturally i think it is the best. but st. john and st. thomas are the bigger tourists destinations...mainly because us cruzans dont take kindly to tourists. we like our privacy and if you arent from here we dont really want you here. and we can tell, mainly if you dont speak cruzan. sorry buddy

I really like Barbados. It's very upscale and one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.....and Tiger Woods got married there at one of the resorts. That should be pretty self explanitory!
