Are you going alone? As a female traveling alone, Cancun is a highly highly dangerous place now. The amount of readily available drugs and mostly American college boys on Spring break lead to a lot of rapes and vicious attacks--more than any other tourist destination according to the Travel channel. I wouldn't go there by myself.

Cozumel was absolutely gorgeous! I found it to be the most beautiful place I'd ever been. Go snorkeling. We rented clear-bottom kayaks and went to Chankanaab National park and kayaked over the reef. Lay out on the beach. I believe there are some Mayan ruins around too.

There is tons of shopping to do in Cozumel too. I loved ordering drinks in the open air huts.

I found more secluded areas in Cozumel where I could be out there by myself and not feel like I was packed like sardines. I wandered on the beach and didn't see hardly anyone. Tons of nightlight for when you want to get wild too. I guess it depends on if you are looking more for a wild party place filled with Americans or if you want more of a natural area to relax on the beach and looks just like those Corona commercials with nothing but a drink and a beach.

Stay away from the Bahamas. The people are rude, they bother you on the beach, and they do as little as they can to service you. I wouldn't waste my money. Plus, Paradise Island is a long, boring drive across the island from the airport. If you must go, there is only one place to stay, and that's the Atlantis.

You'll have a great experience anywhere in Mexico, (Cozumel is more laid-back than Cancun). It's highly competitive for jobs in that country, so service is impeccable! At night, Senior Frogs (they're everywhere) is a must, (as soon as you arrive, grab a squirt gun and join the waiters (all male) for squirt gun fights--they're relentless! Plus, you can squirt unsuspecting customers when they come through the doors!!! Such fun!!!) During the day, you can take a crash-course in scuba diving and open water dive the same day. That's unheard of (and not recommended) in the States, but it's fun. Be warned, you'll gain weight eating Mexican food for breakfast, lunch and dinner....but you'll be so happy! :-)

Go to the ocean go by Aqua it is really torn down from the hurricane i actually went and stayed there on the last story

Just got back from Paradise Island. Stay at the Atlantis!! I had reservations at the Crystal Palace on Nassau and it was a HUGE dump! Dont stay there whatever you do! I was lucky enough to transfer over to the Atlantis Resort and it is top notch. You hardly know you are surrounded by a bunch of stinking bahamains there.

I have been to Cozumel and Paradise island/ Nassau. I would pick Coz any day!!! The Bahamas are a lot like Mexico except you will pay 3x as much! The Bahamas do offer a casino but Coz has more fun night life. shopping is WAY cheaper. I also felt, and this is wierd but, the sun was better. Ive been to Nassau only once and I have been to Coz many times. Also, if you go to coz you can get on a boat for a small price and go to play de carmen.
