You can't judge a whole population by the actions of one person. Like many places PR has safe and unsafe zones; and good and noble people and the regular nut job. Before thinking like that ask yourself: How many pregnant women have unfortunately been murder here (where you live)? |

It's like anywhere else - there are safe areas, and there are unsafe areas. Puerto Rico is a beautiful country with incredibly friendly people. From my perspective, it's safer than Philadelphia. |

Well, nobody is safe nowhere. In this era of terrorism and crime, you have to ensure your safety yourself. You should take proper security measures to protect yourself from anti-social elements. |

Thins happen to people everywhere. We only here the extreme cases- think of all of the millions people in this world that DONT get killed. |

Unfortunate events happen everywhere and I guess that incident is not a common one. As in any other country or place that you visit you should always take precautions, Puerto Rico is not the exception. |

White pregnant women are killed every day in the mainland U.S. Do you really think it is reasonable to expect there would never be a murder in Puerto Rico? In 2006, there were 1836 women murdered by men in the U.S. That is about 35 women every week. There were most likely several killed in the city where you live. As someone else said, it happens everywhere. |

PR has crime like everywhere else. This tragic event got large news coverage because the victim was a tourist and because she was pregnant. If she was someone from PR probably you did never knew about the crime and you would feel as safer as before. |

you mean the british woman who was married to a puerto rican and she was pregnant and they went for vacation to PR. she was in a bad area at the bad time (very early in the morning) all alone and to confident and without knowledge that the world is a dangerous place no matter were you go. I live in FL and my mom and son in PR and she was the one who told me about this news. there have been cases before were people get killed walking around in parks too early or late at night with no dogs to be guard or anyone else and not only did the white lady was killed but lots of woman have been killed if you go all alone in a bad neighborhood, it happens all the time in Orlando Florida, kids get raped, woman get raped and killed very often were I live and its even more scarier than PR. I feel sorry for what happend to that lady. I think she was raped and killed and she was pregnant and I hope their is justice to serve to whoever did wrong to her and any other woman or children. You shouldn't be afraid of crimes that happen every second everywhere you go or any place you visit. You just need to stick to places and people you are very informed and aware of, thats all you need to know. Im sure she wasnt killed because she looked white, for many puerto ricans can look white physically as well as black or biracial, we are a mixture of everything. she got killed because life was not fair to her and she was a woman all alone in a bad neighborhood in a very bad timing. |

well i live there and if you move there is only one thing you need to remember : dont get in the drug buisness, ir be involved, or have a relative who is in it. that thing said just go with it not a bad place to be if you know where to be, if you move you will get it by trial and error of you or other people, i suggest you read the paper every day |

Puerto Rico in general is pretty safe, don't let one case scare you. If it were for that than I would be afraid to live in the USA since there are lots of crimes commited there on a daily basis. |
