Why Jamaican food taste better than Trinidadian food? |
One day I decided to eat at a Trindadian restaurant and their food is awful. They cant cook and their food is just bland. I eat from more than one Trini restaurant and its the same taste. They swear they can cook. What do you think? Additional Details It give me a thought, I would never marry a Trinidadian. |

Trini food is pretty good! You're probably just not USED the food they serve.
Are the trinis TRYING to cook Jamaican food and it taste bad?
Or is it that they cook there local cuisine bad?
Because I'm sure if a Jamaican tries to cook trini food, trinis would find it horrid!
Perhaps your not used to the DOUGH if it is the trini cuisine. Trini foods consist of alot of dough..and Jamaica food consist of alot of meat and rice..and basically FOOD. You can easily solve the dough problem by having them put the dough on the side..
When I first tried roti, I was overwhelmed by the dough..although the restuarant cooked a WICKED curry chicken fah real!! Alot of trinis, are overwhelmed by the dough sometimes too..so they know which kind of foods to get. A foriegner however DOESN'T know and ends up picking something that trinis themselves probably don't like.
Next time you go to the restuarant, ask what food is the most popular and try tasting it . You will probably enjoy it.
And trini people are beautiful and nice. And I've heard from alot of Jamaicans that they are good in bed..LOL.altho they follow that statement up with "Jamaican still running the bedroom.."
But, either you just don't like trini food..or you don't like the cooks..or your picking the wrong food..
Here is a website that tell you all the trini cuisine and what it's ingredient is. You can further pin point what waters your tastebuds: http://www.trinitownrestaurant.com/menu.html
When you pick your food, ask the cashier if they think it taste good. They will be honest and say no or yes. I always ask how something taste and what's more popular before trying something..every cook and restuarant is different..and I don't want to waste my money! |

First of all, Trini food is wonderful! Jamaican food has it's finer points and good too, they differ. You sound like a hypocrite saying you eat "from more than one Trini establishment" - if it's not that good, why keep eating the food? Another question back to you - How many Jamaican restaurants have you visited recently?
And BTW, Trini people are nice and they know how to party and have fun, your ignorance on marrying one shows. You don't base your love life and marriage on the kind of food and cultural back ground that someone has. Sheesh! |

I appreciate that you prefer Jamaican food and Jamaican women but I don't want to get into that putting down my Trini sisters' food. The truth is that it boils down to personal taste. Jamaicans happen to prepare highly seasoned foods and that's fine, but Trinis have their own style too. Please, please let's not start fighting with Trini people. There are too many other more important things to do than to act catty over nothing. |

Hey Mr. Smooth, you are not been too smooth today though.
The fact that you mention: "My parents are Jamaican and I live in Jamaica for 6 years." suggest that their is some subjectivity already.
I am pretty sure the Trinis enjoy their own food. The fact is we not only have different preferences and tastes, we also develop tastes based on our culture and background.
While both Jamaica and Trinidad share a somewhat similar history, there are some cultural differences.
This page can actually tell you more about the making of Jamaican food:
http://www.my-island-jamaica.com/food_from_jamaica.html
Now, lets recognize the similarities and differences and appreciate them both. |

I am Jamaica born and raised and I have visited Trinidad 3 times and I enjoyed the food. I actually craved doubles for months and the shark and bake. You might not like the food, but that is no reason to knock the people. Caribbean people need to get embrace their differences. |

i have never even thought of giving trini food a taste, but i trust you that their food taste bad, becuz every island is trying to copy our great Jamaican taste! they just want to be a part of our culture and our food is the best in the caribbean and we have the best reviews world wide! |
