Why are ppl disrespecting JA?

I hate the fact that some people think they can disrespect jamaica and it's people. Of course there are poor people in jamaica - there are also rich and middle class people.
jamaica can never be a bad experience unless u r a horrible person urself. Stop disrespecting jamaicans because jamaica is never as horrible as some ppl say. There are only a few ghettos in jamaica. I've being living in JA for sixteen years and never been to one. Most of the ppl live in the country - (not ghettos) alot of ppl aren't rich -SO - we like how we live.

bre l I sure do agree with you,no matter where you go in this world there are places you need to be careful in ,the tourist industry wants us to be afraid, that is how they keep you on their resorts[not owned by Jamaicans] and want you to only take their tours so you wont spend your money where it is needed ..ie in the community..poverty is not a choice and they need our dollars to support the families they have...I tell everyone I know who is going to see the Island as it is respect the lives of the locals and spend your money where the locals can benefit. The resorts don't even pay the Jamaican workers a decent wage nor will they allow them to accept a tip.... shame.... I have a friend who works at one...and his paycheck is a disgrace considering he puts in very long hours and is on call a lot...the island is very rich in culture and beauty...and the people I spent time with were amazing and very accomadating proud and loving.

Slow down pls... Who said Jamaican's are not OK? The contrary - most people I know love the place/music/surroundings,food etc. Problems exist all over the planet so what?!

I'm not disrespecting jamaica or it's people. In fact, everything in this world is hated upon. By now it should be normal. But why waste your time on hate when there are people trying to help, there is love too! Now talk about that!

Then don`t worry
I respect Jamaica and it`s culture;
food (spicy!), music (Marley,Tosh,Wailers,)
Track & Field, Beaches (Ocho Rios)
everything

The small percent of people who try to badmouth our country is insignicant compare to the ones who love it. Most of the people who complain maybe if we check you will surely find out that no matter where the go even in there own homes they are unhappy or hard to getlong with. Notice the people you are happy are people who allows themselves to adjust to anY situation.
But no matter what they say they can't stop us we are the best.

Thank you very much. I think they envy us because of all the outstanding things we have been commended on, so they try to find other ways to try and bring us down.

Yeah, it's all about the money. If the media gave raving revues about Jamaica, all tourists would want to go there and where would that leave, Spain, UK, Australia and Canada....
they want the yen in their countries, not in Jamaica

Not as poor as you may thing, take a trip and rent a car,you will discover it beauity and richness.

I don't thinkit is Jamaica they disrespect but the behaviour of the people. This is not unique to Jamaica though . It is all over the world so don't take it personal.

there are a number of behaviours that can be changed it is life and we keep on growing we are not stagnant as human beings.

I didn't even think of it until you brought it up. Also, it's not known enough to be referred to as JA.

Who dare so? Show him to me!
(I am just joking).

But seriously, as one responder noted, Jamaica is a piece of heaven.

Sure-like everywhere else, there are some problems, otherwise it would be heaven itself!

I love my country. I have only been outside jamaica once, but I think I have seen enough to convince me we are a special nation.

There oh so much, the historical sites, the beaches, the rivers, the beautiful flora and fauna, the sports, the music and of course the people!

Most Jamaicans are genuine, pleasurable people. I grew up to appreciate that. My entire community (Beeston Spring in Westmoreland) was like a family!

There is oh so much, I even dedicated a website to my country. http://www.my-island-jamaica.com . It shows a lot of what a visitor may be looking for.
