Under the 1963 Trading with the Enemy Act, U.S. travel to Cuba is sharply restricted, although certain categories such as business executives, journalists, religious activists and others may visit the island with a Treasury Department license.

The US embargo against Communist Cuba restricts trade with the country, part of that is prohibiting US citizens to visit Cuba. It has been this way since 1962 and isn't likely to change until political conditions improve.

Palmasysol39
there is a US embargo that does not prohibits but warns US citizens to travel to Cuba, however the people born in Cuba who are nationalized americans as long as they have relatives in Cuba are allowed to travel to Cuba , usually it was once a year but after Mr Bush signed a new law , now we can only visit our family every 3 years only. Thank you Mr Bush.:-( for allowing us to enjoy the pleasure of our family only every 3 years and for two weeks .
Castro does not prohibit any american citizen to go to Cuba.

Didn't you answer this question yesterday?

Because the American Govt won't let you...perhaps they don't want you to see that Fidel Castro isn't as bad as the US have made him out to be for the last 40 years and that Cuba is actually OK. I visited years ago and it was a lovely country.

Hedera Naturale
as missourim43 said, it is because of a U.S. embargo on the counrty, because we basically do not like Fidel Castro's Communist government. It has very little, if anything, to do with Castro not "letting" Americans into the country. Quite the other way around. It would be nice if all of the people parrotting the pat answers they've cobbled together via hearsay and misinformation would actually study up before trying to (mis)inform others.

its interesting how people from the united states are really quick to call fidel "evil" and whatnot when clearly, they have never been to cuba and their so-called leader (bush) is a freaking idiot.

anyway, it has to do with the embargo that people have mentioned. i wont get into it.

but they can go to cuba, all you need is to get a travel visa. in fact, my sister (who has a US passport), is going to cuba in a month and my dad and my uncle are going to cuba in about 3 days (but they have argentinian passports so it was easier to get a visa).

u can if u get special permission from the goverment

Because there's an Embargo on Cuba. Because Cuba is a Comunist Country...

stella39
It is a communist country and we can't travel there for a vacation. We can only travel there for humanitarian needs.
This has been going on for over 40 years. What can I say.

Because we don't like their leader. Of course most Americans and Cubans don't like our leader either but everyone still seems like they want to be here.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Fidel Castro and the thievery and abuse he was subjecting his people to years ago. My guess would be the US butted in as they always do (in this case for the better because Fidel Castro is no longer in ruling) and tried to patch things up. Also, many Cubans took boats to the US to escape Casto's unfair treatment. Maybe it has to do with Cuban citizens leaving cuba and floating their way to Florida for a better life in the US. I'm not 100% positive, but I hope this helped you at all.

Bella
First off Fidel keeps his people POOR and he is a dictator, so whatever he says go. There is no different classes of people. Look at the cars for example, no one has anything new. They are poor and in poverty. I know all this because my frined's parents fled the country in the early 80's.

Zoe
Because Castro doesn't want Americans to see what goes on in his country. They only let reporters come, and they have to have special permission.
