Why do Americans[not all] look down on Jamaicans?

Americans, unfortunately, were taught to hate from the very beginning. What a lot of people fail to realize is the only people that are from "America" are the NATIVE Americans. All countries have the rich, the not so rich, and the poor. They all have crime and they all have poverty. Doesn't matter if its Jamaica, Mexico, or India, to name a few, because they are "different" than Americans or have accents, they (Americans) look down upon them. And to think, one of the top reasons America is rich is because they borrowed from the very countries they look down upon. People need to get a grip and know that it doesn't matter who you are or what your nationality is, we're all human and we all bleed red.

I think alot of people would agree with you whether or not they are Jamacians. As to why they hate Jamaicans, I'm not sure. Maybe because of the reggae music.

People are afraid of who they don't understand. When a person hear that you are from an island or any other place than America, they think that you are uncivilized and uneducated. Americans take for granted that it is the variety of cultures and people that have made this nation great. How do I know? I have experienced the same thing.

I am American- and I love Jamaica(n's). Unfortunately, many American's think that their country is better than others, for reasons I do not understand. Maybe because America can be seen as a wealthy country? (its def. not because of our "great" leader haha) They are very ignorant to any type of person, not just Jamaicans. Which makes me upset esp. since America was formed from all types of immigrants and countries.

I didn't look down on Jamaicans until I had to spend 5 months with some of them working at a job site.

1- they have no volume control when they talk,
every conversation they had was at level 11.

2- when they drove (which wasn't often thank God) the only time the car went below 70 was when it was parked.

3- Grooming habits, lets just say they were cologne people, not shower people.

I can understand that happening in Texas, especially with the the Jamaicans from Westmoreland who live there. Texans are traditionally tall and the Jamaicans in Texas are mostly the short ones form Westmoreland.
