Why do jamaican christians praise "jah" or jaile Selassie? Isnt that wrong consering he is only man not God? |
I dont remeber ever reading about him in the bible... i mean Jesus is there multiple times but no jaile selassie, i understand he supposedly did great things but many people have done great things, but we dont continuously worship them for it. Isnt it occultish against God to praise Jaile Selassie considering he is not God? Please help me i really would like to understand this culture/christian conflict
Thank you :) Additional Details Im not saying that i believe that rastafarians should believe in the same thing i beleive in because most chirstianas beleive in what im saying and the bible does state that, so if you have no relgious beliefs or religious knowledge please dont not post a response because i find no use in it.
Im simply asking, since rastafarians are considered christians and read the same bible as i do, how come they worship someone other than God or Jesus? It confuses me. I understand that hes their "savior" but if therye relgion which is the SAME as mine, with the exception of this man, how come they praise him and dont consider it wrong to give him so much praise? |

Rastafari is an Abrahamic faith (like Judaism and Christianity) and Rastas believe many of the same things that Christians believe, but they have other beliefs as well. Whether Rasta is a type of Christianity is debatable. Many would say it is not.
Here is a good article that should help you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rastafari |

Confusion lies in the fact that you somehow believe that Rastafarian's must live by the same rules that YOU choose to live by. And interpret the bible with the same 'mind' that you do.
They don't.
Rastafarian's don't view themselves as 'christians' per sey, just as christians don't see themselves as 'Jews'. Jews existed before christians, and the old testiment (in the simplest sense) is closer to THIER bible, and doesn't speak of JESUS.
Rasta's basically believe that Haile Selassie is thier saviour. |

Rastas are NOT considered Christians, and as far as I know. Rastas worship Haile Selassie while Christians worship Jesus. There is no comparison and it is not debatable. Haile Selassie is not God and he is not an incarnation of Jesus.
Some Rastas in Barbados take this verse out the Bible, 'All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow' and take it out of context. They use this to grow their locks.
Just because some Rastas read the Bible does not make them Christians. The devil knows scripture verses but that does not make him a Christian. Haile Selassi is a dead man that can't save himself but Jesus is the Son of God and the Saviour of the world. The Word of God say in John 3:16; For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. That Son is jesus and not Haile Selassie. |

Haile Selassie was king of Ethiopia and regarded by rastafarians as the second coming, like Jesus. Christians have Jesus. Rastafarians have Haile Selassie.
Look up rastafarianism. |
