More than one country use those colors, but jamaicans wear it, to represent africa; to remember their ancestry, and to keep the memory of their african ancesters, that they descend from also, we descend from many cultures, that is why the jamaican crest says out of many one people, all the nations that can be named we are mixed with all these, you will see chinese jamaicans, african jamaicans, you name it, we have it. There are specific parts of africa that we descended from. We call africa the motherland. The rastafarians, wear the color mostly in jamaica.

Actually the red green and yellow presents another part of our culture which is the rastafarian culture. RASTAFARIAN is another religion and its just a part of our culture. The red green and GOLD as we say we dont say yellow is just another side of who we are. So those colors mean different things to different people we also wear it as a representation of our african heritage. Some may wear if just for fashion but its actually worn mostly by the Rastafarians because of religious purposes. and it also represents the reggae culture. hope that answered your question.

Red is for the blood. Gold is for the sun and green is for the lush vegetation. I have also heard that green is also for wealth. This was told to me by a Rastaman at Bob Marley's tomb. BTW, today is Bob's birthday.

Those are the ancient Ethiopian magical colors.
The green symbolizes the vegetation of Africa the yellow symbolizes the wealth of Africa and the red symbolizes the bloodshed of Africans. I hoped i helped God bless have an nice life.

The colors originally came from the Ethiopian flag but the order of the colors are reversed. Haile Selassie, one time Emperor of Ethiopia, is part of the Holy Trinity of the Rastafarian religion.

red, green and yellow are the colours of several flags.
Some Jamaicans (and people of other countries and cultures) wear red, black, green and gold (or a combination) for a number or reasons.
Red, green and yellow are the colours of the Ethiopian flag, and there is a very strong connection between Rastafarianism and Ethiopia, and of course, Rastafarianism and the subsequent reggae culture was born in Jamaica.

The color of their flag is black, green and gold.

WE JAMAICANS wear those colors because thos ecolors represent black unity. It is embedded in our culture to appreciate and represent our roots even down to a "bracelet". So really it is not a Rastafarian or Ethiopian thing either, it's a cultural identity type of thing. We wear it just as someone of the Hindu faith/lifestyle would wear a Sari or Turban. It's an identity mark if you will.

Bellatrix L
cuz its the colors of the reggae flag
