Why do so many Jamaicans wanna go to Foreign ?

I hear guys in Jamaica always taking about how they wanna foreign girl so they can go to foreign. Do they really think foreign is all glits and glam ? Jamaica is a beautiful place and less stressful than foreign. Some people go to Foreign make there money and then go back to Jamaica with that money. I had this one guy tell me that he wants to go to Foreign and get rich and then take his money and come back to Jamaica cause he dosen't wanna live in Foreign. Even the girls in Jamaica say they wanna get pregnant by a Foreign guy so they can go to Foreign. I don't get it.

Tourists love Jamaica, alot of people wished they live in Jamaica..etc. So why can't some people in Jamaica just love Jamaica and not wanna go to Foreign so badly ? I have some people saying they wanna be rich and once they go to Foreign there gonna be rich. I'm lucky to have a wealthly family but not everyone makes it.

So I wanna know why so many Jamaicans wanna go to Foreign ?

That is what Jamaican's think that they will become rich in America. Jamaica is a poor country, but without an education here you won't be able to make a lot of money. We have parts in America that are just like Jamaica, very poor run-down areas.
I don't know why so many foreigners think you can come here and make tons of money.
I've been living in America my whole life and I make a small amount of money at my job.
I would rather live in Jamaica and be poor because at least its gorgeous there.
I met a Jamaican guy while I was there on vacation and hooked up with him and we exchanged phone numbers. A few months later he called me asking me to send him some money. I was so angry with him because he just saw me as an American girl with money, and its not true. I barely have enough money for myself.
I have no idea where these Jamaican men get that idea because it is NOT true.

So true!
Some Jamaicans want to come for different reasons but most want to go to the US and they think make alot of money...Forgetting that the money comes in and goes back out if not careful.
They don't realize the completely different lifestyle, and how hard some Americans work (even 2 jobs!).
Americans seem to live to work $$$ overtime etc...Jamaican back home work so they can live.
Many become very homesick.
I am lucky I have family in both places .

?
Well there are a lot of reason why jamaicans want to come to America, it is not only jamaicans though. It is foriegners period. We think that America is better than our own, we think that for some reason it is better there than our own country. Jamaica is beautiful but we are a poor country, so because of that we are always trying to find a way to make life a little bit easier as fas as finance goes. I moved to the U.S when I was 14 but I regret moving but I had no choice when my dad moved me. I was 14 but if I had the choice now as a grown woman I would move back in a heart beat. I prefer to suffer in my own country than in a foriegn land. America is not all gravy and a lot of us do not know that or realise that until we are already in the country. It jsut all comes down to the thought that foriegn is a bed of roses. Honestly i must say though that there are more opportunities in foriegn that jamaica so that also entice a lot of us jamaican. We just want to make better of our selves. These are just a few reasons why jamaicans come to foriegn. I am sure there are a thousand more reasons out there.

Ever heard the saying "the grass is greener on the other side?"

Well, U.S. grass appears to be greener, especially now when basic items such as food prices are rising rapidly. Now this is of course a world wide thing, but it seems to affect us more. I use the word 'seems' just to illustrate my point. More than half the programs we watch on t.v (local and cable) are American, and they usually show the brighter side of American life. Yes, there are programs that show the not-so-pretty side, but let's face it, depending on your personality, you see what you want to see.

I think many of them think that if they were in "foreign" (AKA America/England) that they would be living a better life. I know too many guys that got a foreigner to marry them and now could not be happier (mainly because they found girls to take care of them). I personally have been travelling for a while and I wouldn't leave Jamaica unless things got really bad for me. I just go to relax, do some shopping then come back home.

Dispair Queen
Okay listen up everyone. I'm an educated Jamaican living in Jamaica; and who has lived here for all of my life. For the umpteenth time people, Americans especially because 90% of the time you are the guilty ones: Please do not stereotype people or people's countries especially when you have not even traveled there or you only hear things or have only learned about things via the media. Please be very careful what you ask and what you say because some things, no matter how harmless you think it is come across as very insulting sometimes. This is my FIFTH time typing this speech on Yahoo Answers.

First of all not all Jamaicans want to go to "foreign"; not all of us want "foreign" guys or girls, and not all of us are dirt poor like you see and learn about in your beloved media. One of you mentioned that there are poor as well as rich parts in America; well it's the same here, okay? Not all of us live in the ghettos and not everyone is starving, or smoking weed, or is a Rasta or whatever.

Secondly, some of us travel to the US or plan to travel to the US for nearly the same reason why there is rural to urban migration in the United States. Jamaica is a very small island ; and some of us are "big fish living in small water."

Third, there are certain career fields that require that you both study and work in the United States, because there is not a big market for it here since we are a tiny country.

Third, there will always be a bunch of people who prefer "foreign girls" or "foreign guys" in any country at all. I know people from quite a few countries; America included, and some of these American guys or American girls don't want to date anyone from America.

Next, not every guy or girl here is manipulative if they are in a relationship from someone from a different country. I am dating an American guy, not because I have a preference for American men at all; believe me, but because I like him and I would never want to manipulate him.

PLEASE STOP STEREOTYPING US. It is nice that you think our country is beautiful; but the migration issue is deeper than that. When you ask these questions, you're reflecting badly on your country and are proving stereotypes (which I hate to believe) that Americans are ignorant individuals. In the future please do your research first.

There is 3 reasons, the main reasons
(1) They want a break, there tired of their situations. And its not like all of them are lazy, some of them are smart and qualified people but NO jobs for them.

(2) There is a big foreign culture in Jamaica, can you blame them? we have American TV, music, clothes and the majority of our foods are importanted so, thats all we know.

(3)They have family and friends there, which I think make it bad at times. Why do I say that? They go to America and Englad for a short time. And they come back to Jamaica in 3 month with American Accent (already!), allot of money (which they save up), Renta car and nice clothes. Instead of telling their family the truth, that they are really doing a CLEANING job they SHOW OFF on poor people, the same people they grow up with.
So poeple seeing this, they equate foriegn with Success. And come to think of it who doesn't want to be a succes??
