Don't ask Jamaicans. Ask the mainstream media in North America and Europe. Every caribbean accent is either 'Trinidadian' or 'Jamaican' to them.

They buy jamaican music, mimic Jamaican culture in sitcoms and plays and movies and EVERYWHERE as if Jamaica and reggae and patois is everything that is caribbean.

Don't blame the Jamaicans who get a little 'cocky' as a result. Have you ever sat on an airplane with a bunch of american kids who give you the 'rockstar' scream anytime you say anything that sounds 'Jamaican'?

It aint our fault AT ALL.

We don't think its perfect, but we know it sound good. We are happy with our accents.
We have no problem with people with other accents either. We just do our thing and nuff people don't like that

Keisha Oohi, our 'accent' is due to the combination of the different nations and the diversity of languages, that make our island, our 'accent' even differs within the island, one can sometimes identifies an individual parish of origin by his/her accent. We are just proud to be Jamaicans, and we going to do our damn best to show it to the world. Be proud of who you are, stop the comparison, it's a step backwards, move forward or else we gone lef yuh. your fren ah rass eediot, regular jackass, nuh care ah wey im come from.

Why do other Caribbean countries always want to fight against Jamaica?
Where the heck did you get that from. We do not, maybe its because other countries think so. Don't blame us. All the Caribbean countries accent sound alike, but you've got to admit that our's kinda sound different. Don't hate, just congratulate.

girlschool101
we do not think our acents r perfect if u give lime light thats how u r going to see us as if were in the lime light

kingkong
most of the Islands other than Jamaica sound the same, but honestly the jamaican accent sound the best, most people I ask say they would rather a Jamaican accent than any other island, it is more popular anyways you look at it, every island I've been to plays dancehall and reggae music more than their own music....
