Yea dred... I thought I was the only one who thought dat.... I had to cuss up one last year on high street fuh she dotishness..I gone in dis souvenir store to pick up some lil trinkets & ting tuh bring back fuh ppl.. So d ting I was watchin cost 100.00 , when it ring up..hear she nah "200.00" I say wha? how it go from 100 to 200? she tell me tax.. I say wow.. 100 dollars in tax? who I look like , ma backside? ramdeen jack@$$?? she steups and mutter somethin under she breath and roll she 2 big eye..& tellin me if I doh want it I could leave.. is den self d cuss start.. & then d owner was in d back and hearin all d cussin, come out & I tell him wha happen & how I neva shoppin dey again & how dem does only tief ppl money & I goin nexx door & buy meh tingz & I go tell everybody I kno not tuh shop dey again cuz dey too tieficious ..he apologise profoundly, boof she up & I end up gettin it fuh $50.00 ... ..

A nexx time, when I was about 17, I had gone Trini fuh vacation too, (as a graduation gift) & I end up takin a taxi tuh drop me inside Palmiste cuz I didn't feel like walkin dat long trek in dat flickin hot sun and runnin from dog (cuz ppl doh kno how tuh close dey blasted gate) but dais beyond d point.. So i take a taxi inside, and when he drop me in front d house, I jump out and proceed to pay him 5.00 .. ..he watchin me & tellin me how is 20.00 to come in dey cuz he had to drop me all d way in.. & how d roads eh good & he car had to go dong in pot hole? I say wha dat have tuh do wit me? take dat up wit yuh gov't.. if u feel I payin u 20.00 here today u lie.. wha u smokin dred? ..so I juss fling 5.00 in he lap and proceed to walk off, so mr. man decide to come out d car and lookin tuh confront me and sayin how I betta pay he etc etc.. all of a sudden I see meh cuz & uncle comin outside..cutlass swingin... mr. taxi drivah jump in he car & take off.. full speed ahead..

I realise that I gave you a story but didn't answer ur question..lol.. just like pepa said, they hadda deal wit standing up on dey feet fuh hours, get like 70 dollars fuh d day, deal with an @$$hole boss,and of course customers.. but d ting is, I was reall nice wit d girl until she try to tief meh money & then want to play wrong & strong... I was even goin & give she a tip.. but she loss out on dat one.. d boss shoulda reprimand she in private doh, he reall boof she & embarrass she.. dat part was uncalled for..especially in front of me so.. guess he was tryin to prove a point.. but some of dem does reall over do it wit dey attitudes dred.. I does cyah take some ah dem & dey benn up face..

is because we dont bother to train our workers to deal with the public and on top ah dat we want to pay them minimum wage, or even below minimum wage. wha yuh expect when dey hadda work 10 hours some days for 80 dollars? and hadda stand up whole day, and d boss insulting yuh in front ah customers etc?

I agree with hotta, people dont earn enough in T'dad and T'go for all they have to go through, and they need to train the workers. Customer service......Boss treatin them like rubbish, ppl cussin them whole day, and they not gettin train to handle theese situations, all they get is two cuss from boss, not a explination of what to do when tings like dat happen. But then workers shouldnt take out they anger from all of that on other customes and be rude to people who eh do them nutting. When they in a bad mood, they take it out on good ppl by overcargin, cussin up, bein rude.
they need to train workers and raise minimum wage.

like others said they are not trained and they make so little, they have no reason to nice and courteous. it is a stinking problem though and nobody in management in these facilities seem to care, they probably have nasty attitudes as well, customer should really boy cut the stores and then they will feel it, when they not selling the ****!!

Ah know exactly what yuh mean! De odder day I went in Hi-Lo (Point Fortin branch because ah sure some of allyuh know by now that I livin' Point) and as ah carry some things to de cashier de first ting I realise is de look on she face. I shoulda kinda expect it because dat girl always sour. Anyway, de girl pan screw up like she smellin' someting funky. De first thing she ask me (and mind you, she ask meh with attitude), "Yeah, yuh have ah shopper card." I say "No." She cash de items and flingin' dem back like is sh!t she holding. So, yuh know red woman like ole car....dey always always givin' trouble and of course, I am no exception. I tell de @$$ to stop flingin' meh ting so. She go watch me in MY face and steups. So I open meh big mouth and say, "What kinda jamette allyuh have workin' in dis place? Yuh feel yuh doin' me a flickin' favour? Yuh see how meh @$$ red??? Ah want yuh to kiss it."

I swear de girl was goin' to get a heart attack for someting. lol. I just grab meh ting and walk out de damn store. She lucky I didn't fling something at she.

Customer service in Trinidad and Tobago real bad, oui. As trinisam say, they get absolutely no training before they are sent out into the working field.

I always used to ask this question, until i went to guyana and met some really ignorant sales people.

Most of the workers in Trinidad and Tobago have nothing invested in their places of work so they have the "take it or leave it" attitude. If they don't get some sort of bonus (monetary or otherwise) and never mind the slave wages that they probably get paid, then why bother to make an effort.
