No. PR is not part of the US.
crazysss information is correct. we are not an official state of the US, we are a common wealth status, which means we are associated with the US, but we have our own government, our national anthem, our flag and the cities have their own flags as well. People confuse us as a state because we are considered automatically American citizens and have American dollars like the US. PR in other words is like being a state but not an official permanent one, this is because at some point in history in the 1800's US plans was to become PR part of the US as an official sate, Americans in PR wanted to change PR primary language into English in all educational areas so later on it will slowly become a democracy of the US. The problem was that it was very hard for the Americans to do change PR, because PR was already civilized enough in their culture, we were not indians who didnt know how to read or write (which in most cases it is easier to handle a country like that, than one who already is established). PR was already established in culture, even thought very poor economically speaking (even having lots of resources that could make money, but PR didnt have the trading connections like the US did) this was the reason US was so interested in PR. Americans noticed things were getting diffiucult in the US and went back to the main land, but always considering that PR could still be of great advantage to the US, geographically speaking. For instance, PR has the deepest sea abyss in the world and there are things the US want to know about this, in order to be in PR territory they need to be associated with us. also PR has the biggest satellite in the world, also its very interesting for Americans, since they put it there to explore the deep signals of the universal mysteries. PR wants economical and previliges from the US. so this two countries in other words, use each other for their own advantages (what they want and what they need).

Puerto Rico is not a state. Is a territorry or Commonwealth. "The flag was created in 1895, by the Puerto Rican section of the Cuban Revolutionary Party, which advocated independence for Puerto Rico and Cuba from Spanish rule." (...) "Its design is the same as the Cuban flag, but with the colors inverted. It has five horizontal stripes, alternating red and white, with a white star on a blue triangle in the extreme left." (...) "Before 1952, police arrested anyone displaying the flag on charges of insubordination against the United States. When Puerto Rico became a Commonwealth that year, the flag became the island's official emblem."

Puerto Rico is not part of the US, it is a self governing island associated with the US. It has it's own flag, national anthem and constitution

Because it's a COMMONWEALTH... it's a COUNTRY and countries have their own flag... and national anthum, too.

Your question reminds me of when I was living in Haiti and we had a group of AmeriKan 'missionaries' visiting us. We were having breakfast when the sounds of school children singing came through the window... "That's pretty" this one guy said... "What is that song"?... I told him it was the National Anthum... and he said "Well that doesn't SOUND like the National Anthum to ME"... to which those of us who lived there said in unison: Not YOUR National Anthum... THEIR National Anthum"

it's just like any u.s. state flag. it's not a foreign country flag.

Do Texas has its own flag? Yes, it has a blue rectangle with a white star on it, and a white and a red band.
Do Florida has a flag? Yes, it is white, with a big red X and the seal of the state on the middle.
I could continue biut to be short each state has a flag.
Aren't the 50 states part of USA?

Well, PR (not a state but an organized and un-incoprpored territory) also has a flag. Blue triangle with a star on it over five horizontal bands 3 red and 2 white bands. Other territories have flags too. Check US Virgin Islands, Guam. Even cities & towns have flags.

"Isn't it part of the U.S."
No. According to US Supreme Court, un-incoprpored territory are NOT part of USA, there are possesions. Like your computer, you are the owner of it, but the computer is NOT PART of you.

For all practical means we are a colony of the USA, althogh many in PR and many in USA do not like that word. Curiously, a country that was born when 13 colonies decided to stop being colonies is now one of the last nations on the world that still has colonies.
