Why is the life expectancy higher in Cuba than it is in the United States?

http://newsmine.org/content.php?ol=natur...

If you google ''Cuban life expectancy'', it shows Cuban males as 76 years old and females as 80. If you google ''American life expectancy'', it says 74.37 for males and 80.05 for females.

Why do you think this is? Generally speaking, it's thought of that we're a wealthier nation with a higher a GDP. We're also larger. even if their access to other countries is lesser, Cuba's still among the highest in terms of standard of living, but I take this kind of suprisingly. The U.S. still has a very high life exptencacy compared to most of the world and an above average one among modern world nations. Do you believe we don't have a higher life expectancy because of our flaws in our health care system? Or is it because the Cuban health care system is very sound?
Additional Details
I think part of it has to do with a higher level of stress too. There's a considerable amount of greed in the U.S., which has created stress, with high credit card bills, foreclosures, ect.Canadians and Europeans tend to value safety nets more (ex. socialized medicine, pensions) than we do, so perhaps that has something to do with it.

No matter what they say I can surely tell you that even when Cubans have not the greatest balance diet and adequate nutrients people in Cuba are always more active because they do walk all the time, they eat lots of vegetables as much as they can and whenever they can, all the products they buy and sale are organics, they avoid the accelerating processing of food like the ones that we eat in North America, and for the last point that I want to make it remarkable is the Health System in Cuba and Medical team training which is consider for been a third world country one of the highest standards meeting country in the world for decreasing mortality, deceases and for maintaining a high standard of life for many years along with their Doctors which are one of the most remarkable Doctors for their training and intelligence. I went to Miami twice having the opportunity to visit some of the Hospitals down there and to be honest with you most of the names of Doctor that I saw in the board of Directors and Surgeons as the most relevant were Cubans specialist either born and graduated in Cuba or patterns Cubans who live in Miami.

The most likely answer is that the Cuban regime gives, as a rule, false statistics, plain and simple

Right. Still I am familiar enough with the system to doubt whatever information comes from there.

Since you say that other organizations provide their own statistics I would really appreciate more information about those organizations for me to analyze exactly how they get the data, where from and how they put facts together

In the USA there are figures even to determine the color of paper that people use for hygienic purposes, but those statistics can be very deceiving
Just look here. Today they say on the media that chocolate increases the risk of heart disorders and the next day somebody says it prevents them
I understand that there is a theory about drinking wine is healthy, but some people say that what may prevent heart disease is not the wine, but rather the fact that people who drink red wine have a higher socioeconomic standard way of life and they enjoy benefits that other people don't

I read the link. It makes sense in a certain way

It's That Guy
The difference in health care systems probably plays a part, also in their much lower infant mortality. But it's probably more complex than that. Americans live less healthy lifestyles. We eat a lot more and something like 1/2 of us are fatter than is healthy. We work long hours but not physical work, and most of us don't get enough exercise. I think we overuse prescription drugs.

Canadians also have longer life expectancies too. They're about as rich as Americans, but they are considerably more healthy, and nobody's really sure why that is either.

I can say that every statistics coming from Cuba is 99% false
The idea that the Cuban regime has of the truth is that it is something that always needs modification, because otherwise, the enemies of comunism will be very happy

We have one of the highest suicide rates in the world, but that is not something they advertise

Ironically, it may be true that, since in Cuba finding food is a daily challenge it may help to eat a healthier diet.

When I arrived to this country I began to work in a clinic, reviewing medical charts, and we thought that the high levels of cholesterol found in practically all the patients were a mistake.
We said: "it is not possible that everybody here has high cholesterol"
Later we learned that it was possible
Also, since we must walk everywhere we go, or use a bicycle, that makes us make exercise
Ironic, no ?
The combination of a scarce diet and exercise is highly recomended and we have that ( not willingly, but we have it )

Minister of Truth
CIA world book has Cuba listed lower than the United States. The United States is listed at 45th with a 78.06 overall average. and Cuba is listed at 76th 75.08 average.

Very good health care there.

Regarding the movie "sicko" , I have not seen it, but I have read several summaries about it.
Point is, the cuban regime uses the "free" medical care and education as propaganda

Without talking about the subject itself, I can say that dictatorships. as a rule, have something good.
hitler built expressways, Mussolini had the trains to work according to schedule, etc, etc
fidel has been more astute about this

Because the Cubans speak less English ?

"The Chinese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British, Australians or Americans.
The French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British, Australians or Americans.
The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British, Australians or Americans.
The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British, Australians or Americans.
The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British, Australians or Americans.
The Latinos eat lots of Chilli and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British, Australians or American

CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is what kills you."

Michelle K
the documentary by Micheal Moore called "SICKO"
talks about the US health care and stats and Cuba's at the end, it is actually really interesting.

If you ever happen to go to Cuba, it will become very clear. Cubans live happy, stress free lives. Heart disease is a leading cause of death in the US (and many other western countries).

When I first went to Cuba I was surprised that their life expectancy is so high, because they drive old Al-Capone era cars and emissions from these cars are just terrible. You can smell the exhaust fumes 10 minutes after the car passed by you. I truly thought they must have serious problems with lead poisoning in Cuba and was surprise when I learned that their life expectancy was so high. I could not wrap my head around it, but then I learned that lead will kill you far, far slower than stress.

Add to it the fact that food made in Cuba is not poisoned with pesticides unlike that in America. They don’t have multibillion dollar corporations looking to make money on consumers at any cost, even at cost of slowly poisoning them to death. Such corporations dope produce and meat up to make it grow fast, look plump and stay without rotting on the shelf for prolonged time, to make sure they are able to sell it all. It comes with a cost of many cases of cancer, and other diseases as genetic information cells of people in western countries gets heavily affected by these poisons. They don’t have anything like that in Cuba.

On a small street adjacent to Prado downtown Cuba, they have a small shop where they sell freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. They have a machine right inside, run sugar canes through it and collect the juice that it produces into a cup that is sold to people for 1 National Peso. There are always line ups there. I had it every morning – it’s extremely delicious and as you drink it, you can tell how pure and healthy it is. It’s sugar cane grown the Cuban way – without any pesticides, without artificial chemicals to enhance its production. In our world we’d call it 100% organic, in Cuba this is the way all foods are.

Wise philosopher once said: “Let thy medicine be thy food and thy food thy medicine”. It’s no secret that by eating healthy food that’s pure will keep your body healthy. Plus by living a stress free life, without banks looking to foreclose your house and throw your family on the street, without fears of losing your job and being unable to provide for your family, without fears that someone will shoot your child on the way to church for $2… all that adds up to increased life expectancy in Cuba. Top notch health care system with enough doctors to ensure everyone is taken care of (high doctor to patient ratio) only further helps the situation.
