Why should I have to buy a house in the Bahamas, couldn't I just get a Bahamian woman to marry me?

Think of the savings. Under common law that house would be as much mine as hers,I'd have no trouble getting permanent residency, which is a lot better than needing to invest half a million in property, plus all I'd have to do is go down with a suitcase and make myself at home. So what's wrong with that as a relocation plan? Hey,where there's a will there's a way. Opinions? Know any rich widows or divorcees?

Oh come come now,Delani. There is nothing wrong with self-improvement. Besides,I like the bahamas. I've always wanted to be a worthless but lovable slob who went down there and married a lonely woman who owns a shabby resort motel on Andros Island. And why not? Why not follow that dream? I think it's all very romantic, frankly.

Ingenious. And so much easier for a woman to accomplish. I could go down there for a "visit" and snag some rich slob with a drinking problem and a beautiful home with a clear deed and then act to facilitate his rapid dissolution unto premature death leaving me secure for life in an ideal locale, complete with legal residency. Victimizing Bahamians for such purposes is an extremely attractive and indeed quite workable proposition and if effectively maintained as a broad-based strategy for a long enough period would eventually result in our achieving a demographic majority at which point we could assume power democratically, rendering the independence of the Bahamas a mere point of legal detail.

You always come up with such good ideas.

Of course you can.. many have.. but it takes a couple of years for you to get your papers. (I have friends who have waited over a decade now, and still not gotten them)..

of course, there's another issue.. you may have to put up with a big ole' gussie may for the duration..
what a treat..

If it works, let me know. I'd like to do it too.

Let me warn all the young ladies of your coming here so they're on the lookout!

Quite honestly, most women here are very smart and your idea certainly isn't an original one!

But - you do get an A for effort.

Delani F
thats so disgusting that you would lie and cheat a women that way!!!!!!!!! ty should be ashamed! tisk tisk!!!!

Bosco
Wow,what a concept. So the idea is to play the lovable, endearing rogue and sucker some pleasant and tolerable middle-aged divorcee or widow into marrying you and then you go down and live with her.

I love it. Just make sure she's a sweet gal you can genuinely like so nobody gets hurt.

You are thinking American style. It is not automatic down here. Just because you marry a Bahamian her house does not automatically become yours. You have to go before a Bahamian judge and prove to the judge why she should have to support you economically.

In fact you coming from the USA may even count more against you. Some of your US assets may actually get passed on to her.

And besides Caribbean women don't play... If you mistreat some women in the Caribbean you better becareful her family doesn't come back and burn down your house and run you out of the island. That type of stuff does not go unpunished in the Caribbean, so I feel sorry for you if you come trying that down here.

I've seen dumb stuff like that before... People do wrong things to another person and then the victim's whole family is ready to retaliate. I would watch myself if I were you. These islands are small and I'm telling-you people-know-people and someone in customs or immigration would tip off those people the second you step foot back inside the country for the family to come looking for you again.

I wouldn't do what you're thinking about doing... You're trying to play a very dangerous game...
