Cuba is full of old and new history, as well as beautiful culture. Cuban hospitality is warm and genuine. Once you make Cuban friends, they will be one for life.
There are beautiful sights in Cuba as well as amazing and clean beaches.
You can see mountains in one part of the country, another part you can find ecological sights...and so much more.

But most of all, what makes Cuba attractive over other places is the people. Despite the fact there is poverty (which is what one will find worse in other countries where there is democracy), the people are always finding a way to stay smiling. Music fills the air wherever you go...laughing, singing and joking is common to see as well. But this is not to be seen as something superficial or as a band-aid solution to their problems. Yet, as some of the Cubans here have mentioned before that this is only a way to find some humour to cope. So it's not to be misunderstood that they are just carelessly flitting around in life....but that they try to find a way to deal. No, no one is romanticizing the Cuban situation.

Take a look at the links to see what you can find in Cuba.

This is not a good moment to go to Cuba. The situation, after the hurricanes , is worse than ever. People are very desperate.

Hum, somebody says that despite the poverty, people always stays singing, dancing, laughing.

I must say that that is a very superficial and stereotypical way to see our country.

The situation in Cuba is much more than poverty. It is living in a police state, where big brother ( literally, because that is fidel and his goons ) are watching you constantly. We have practically no freedom.
THAT is something that might exist in other countries ! FREEDOM !

About the dancing, singing, etc, it is also stereotypical. Some people say that we Cubans solve everything by dancing and singing.

During slavery in the USA, the owners of slaves said that the slaves spent the whole day singing, dancing, and laughing.
A very appropriate analogy !

Besides, the Cuban hides his pain and suffering with sense of humor. What are we going to do ? Kill ourselves ?

Now that I mention it, Cuba has a very high suicide incidence. They forgot to mention that

At this moment I have no idea about why

The geography you can learn in books. You should know that a very important fact regarding Cuba, as some people have said here, is that Cuba is ruled by a comunist dictatorship that lasts for 50 years, torturing, killing, executing, putting in jail all those who oppose the regime. No freedoms

yeah Lizzy!

I've been wondering about that for thousands of years now!!! why should you go to cuba?

why not to the moon, to jupiter or to pluto?

or why not to the orion galaxy where you actually came from ?!

why cuba???

I'm assuming this is a hypotheitical question for a homework assignment, because its really not a place frindly to americans. asuuming your american. Italians go there alot. I think it has to do with the black market.

You will have a hard time finding food, but if you are christian you could see the opportunity to minister as they are becoming more and more christian

Every year thousands of crabs come onto shore to lay eggs, eihter that or they hatch and go to sea, can't remember, but they are protected and it is illegal to eat them, but you could watch them

Promescuity is very bad as well. So if you are looking for chicks you could go. They do have very beatiful women.

You could also see if you are able to swim to Florida!!!

Oh, you can witness the great success or communism! Yeah, it's worked REEEEAAAALLLLY great, if you can't tell by the dead horses lying in the street.

Sooner or later, this country will have to change to improve their economy, living condition and maybe a little bit more freedom to its people. Cuba will have lots of potential for tourist, business, investment ... because they're doing nothing at current time. Make a trip to Cuba will be good for your education, preparing of opportunities, however you have to remember this is still a poor country so it will not comfortable in many ways.

Ich liebe dich!!<3
You can always discover something new over there, even though now is not the best time to go!!!,But best of luck anyways!!

Hello Dear
Why travel to Cuba?it is a country about which many people have only limited information, and much of that misleading or out of date. My first visit to Cuba was in 1975, followed by a period of working in resorts there in the late 1970s. My most recent visit to the country was in 2004.Cuba is unlike any place you've ever been before. The intermingling of European and African peoples and cultures has made Cuba innovative, be it in music, art, politics, or religion. The attributes of traditional West African deities have been superimposed on Catholic saints to create a new religion, santería or Cuban voodoo. Cuba is a world of its own.
In Cuba you have a unique chance to relive 20th century history. Walk along any Cuban street and you'll feel you're back in the 1950s as long-tailed Chevys and Buicks glide past. Glance at the billboards extolling the revolution or note the many busy schools and clinics and you'll see socialism in action. Cuba is the last true Communist country outside of Asia.
Cuba's museums and art galleries offer a rich feast of Spanish colonial art and architecture. The contemporary art of the revolution is striking, but it is those old palaces, churches, and cobblestone streets that attract visitors the most. Havana is ringed by powerful Spanish colonial fortresses, most of them well preserved and open to the public.
Local legends in a Manuel Mendive mural, Santa Maria del Rosario. Havana is the largest and most remarkable city in the Caribbean. The Plaza de la Catedral dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries, while the Paseo del Prado is a classical 19th century Spanish promenade. In the hotel district of Vedado, it's the 1950s all over again. Plaza de la Revolución is the heart of Fidel Castro's Cuba. The ambience of Cuba's second city, Santiago, is comparable.

Aside from Havana, the Spanish left a string of charming colonial towns along the length of the island. Of these the unquestioned jewel is Trinidad, unchanged in over a century. Many of Trinidad's stately colonial mansions have been converted into guesthouses or museums, and the music in the town's nightspots will move your feet.
The Cubans are world-class baseball players and boxers. Yet for active vacationers, the sports of choice are snorkelling, hiking and scuba diving, be it a dive on a black coral wall at Maria la Gorda or a hike across the Sierra Maestra via Cuba's highest peak.
Red land crabs often swarm along the dive-friendly Maria La Gorda coast to reproduce. The Caribbean island of Isla de la Juventud to the south of Havana is Cuba in miniature. Here both the national hero Jose Marti and Cuba's president Fidel Castro spent periods in exile. It is a largely agricultural island with secondary boarding schools built by the revolution dotting the countryside.
Best of Luck

Huh? Is someone making you?

Cuba sucks that is why they are all risking their lives to come to America. Just go to a public restroom at some dirty restaurant and you have been to Cuba.

For more authenticity you should go after someone takes a nasty dump!

You are allowed to travel to Cuba from if you are a US citizen. Citizens of the US travel to Cuba all the time but you may have to go there from Mexico or Canada. In the past, US citizens have gotten into trouble for traveling to Cuba from Mexico so I would do your homework on this. You can read some of the information on this website: http://www.cubatravelusa.com/Travel_Tips.htm

If you do go, bring us back some cigars & rum. (J/K- It is illegal to bring Cuban Cigars into the US)
