You can get a cab any day but there might be less on public holidays.Only take licensed, legal taxis with red license plates.
It's best to look in the jamaican yellow pages for reputable companies.
There's also an airport taxi service called JUTA. |

They will practically knock each other over to give you a ride anytime day or night. BUT, watch them and know the money conversions well enough to convert prices in your head on the spot. Those guys will take every penny they can squeeze out of you. I was there for 10 days and rented a car - a crappy little Toyota Corolla - but at least I could go where I wanted when I wanted for the most part and it was only $300. I only took a taxi when my friend had the car. |

Taxis are available 24 ours per day. It would be good if you charter a taxi for the stay. Negotiate the price from the offset so that there are no surprises at the end.
depending on the length of the visit you can consider renting a vehicle. the only problem is that you might not be familiar with the area. The plus with the taxi option is that you can get them to carry you all over. eg. you might mention to the driver that you want to go to a club and he will be able to tell you which one is the hip. |

There are prob more taxis in jamaica than US. You can get one anywhere, anytime, anyplace. There are the ones with the red licence places, those are registered, and there are the ones that just call themselved taxi man. But if u get one at the airport make sure to ask him how much it is going to cost before you get into the cab, cuz they will overcharge you. |

I suggest getting a taxi from the air port and not renting a car. They drive on the left (may not be a problem if you do to!) and the roads are narrow, winding and most in very bad shape. Unless you've driven there before you could get lost before you get away from the airport. Get a taxi. After being there a few days and getting your bearings, rent a car if your comfortable. Good luck and be safe. |

You can get a cab whenever there. If you are flying in, you may want to think about renting a car at the airport. That way you always have a car at your disposal (and will prob save more money as they will def hike up the prices if you are a tourist). |

any time just ask for the price before you go the prices can change............................... |

You can get a cab any day of the week. If some of the drivers suspect you are a tourist they make add a litte extra, but the prices are generally reasonable.
I would suggest you rent a car at the airport or get a friend here to take you around though. Then you have much more flexibility.
When are you coming? I could direct you to a nice driver here or, depending on how busy I am, I may just be able to show you around a few places, but only if you will be in the Montego Bay area.

In any case, do enjoy yourself! |
