I didn't hear about a China Town being created, but I think it's true. There is one in New York, though., I read about it in a book called New York: City of many dreams.

the mayor of Santo Domingo and the association of chinese businessnesmen are remodeling some blocks near the colonial city where there are many chinese restaurants and other stores..to make them look like a small chinese town...they are working on that and i think it will be finished in a couple of months......

Yes, actual president Leonel Fernández has begun its creation (although I think he should be focusing more in people rather than on the movie industry, subway construction, reelection, and a big and ever going etcetera).

They eventually will. I honestly believed tourist are way, way better treated in the Dominican Republic than in some of the next-door Island. Puerto Rico for example was a nice place to visit, not anymore. Not very clean. High crime. Rude people in general (not all but most). Higher prices. Haiti is another nice country but still a long ways off before tourism arrives. Unless SD turns into another PR (pushing tourism away) it has a bright future. Dominicans...learn from Puerto Rico's mistakes and do not repeat.
