For your family, I really recommend Carnival!
Although Royal Caribbean and Disney have the best youth programs for your 10 and 15 year old, your 20 year old may feel a little left out and bored (too young/too old).
But don't worry because your younger ones will for sure enjoy Carnival's youth program - they'll meet tons of other kids and will probably not want to come home lol. Your 20 year old will enjoy the "younger" vibe too! There's so many silly and goofy activities that Carnival is known for - from the Hairy Chest contests to playing hot potato with a rubber chicken or even taking a class on how to shape a towel into an animal shape (also a Carnival classic). So make sure your 20 year old gets involved to meet other people his/her age. Even though Carnival has a party atmosphere, it's also a great place for you and your wife - I've been on their cruise line with my fiance a few times... Consider it a second honeymoon!
Cruisecritic.com is the best place for cruise info. Here's a link for more info on Carnival: http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/cruiseline.cfm?CruiseLineID=8
As far as rooms, get one with a window! It really opens the room up. The bathrooms a bit small, but every thing's set up in a way that you won't feel claustrophobic. If you're really worried, though get a suite with a balcony. Speaking of rooms, just a piece of advice: suites can sleep up to 5, but due to the ages of your kids, trust me: you'll be happier with TWO rooms, next to or across from each other. Your kids will appreciate the semi-freedom, you and your wife will feel like you're on a second honeymoon, yet the kids are close by to keep an eye on. Your kids will thank you too!
Hope this helps, good luck! |

Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE AN "NCL" Cruise!
I took one to Alaska for 11-days, and THOUGHT I WAS ON THE TITANIC!
Thanks, RR |

I know, I know!!!!

Get a room that is higher up so that it will have real windows instead of the fake ones. Keep an eye on your family also. People come up missing off cruise ships alot. Have fun.
Carnival is a great cruise line. |

I've taken 2 Carnival cruises and loved them both (and they are considered more of a 'discount' cruise line). I think they are carnival.com but you can look them up online easily.
The room size was fine on both, and considering how little time you spend there, it's not much of an issue. Other than sleeping and changing clothes, I'm rarely in my room (cabin).
Hope you have a fabulous time (whatever cruise line you use)! Book soon since our Winter is the high season down that way. ☺ |

It is the best thing ever invented! I love a cruise. The rooms are just fine. But you might want to leave your kids at home. Cruises are best when you are getting some peace and quiet with your parner. Good Luck! Have Fun! |

if you get a suite, no the rooms are not too small. my husband and i got the balcony rooms, which i think is second from the best room. and it was small like a hotel room. right when you go in, the bathroom and closet are together, and then the bed took up all the rooms space, with a small table and refridgerator. but we got a balcony that was good size. i do recommend taking a cruise, there's so much to do, there's activities for the kid and teen and 20 yr old. the pool obviously the main place. and seeing another country, they should be happy with anything and diverseness. I took the Princess cruise, i heard it's the best. carnival has more kid friendly things i think, so you should check that out. expedia has some pretty nice deals. have fun. |

Either Carnival or Caribbean are good. However the cabins are very small so if you don't like tight spaces I would rethink the vacation plans. Good luck. |

Any cruise line will be nice, but Carnival will have lots more to do for the kids on board, from my experience. As for the rooms...they're small, but you only get dressed in there and sleep, so that's no problem. I'd suggest getting one with a window though. You may need to book two cabins to accommodate five people, although I did hear that there is a cruise line that offers cabins for five people. Or...you may need to get one of their larger rooms with a balcony? Something to look into before you set your heart on something.
I'd suggest buying your own snorkel equipment so you don't have to dish out $100 each time you want to head to the beach and snorkel. It's an amazing activity while down in the Bahamas, and free if you bring your own gear. Also, just hop off the boat and head for the nearest taxi. The taxi driver will bring you to the best beach and he'll be there to pick you all up too. (cheaper then standing in line at the ship to register for a tour, and then paying extra bucks too).
Try and find a cruise that has the most stops on islands, so you won't have a bunch of days on board ship. You'll get plenty of ship time at night, but like I said, Carnival does have things that are a lot of fun to do or watch the younger ones do while on board. Their pool games will have you laughing out loud. Fun times.
As for web sites, the best one I've found is iBtraveling.com. I usually can find a good deal there because you can compare a bunch of well known sites all at the same spot.
Consider all inclusive resorts too if you can't find a ship that will let you have all five of you in the same room.
Wish you the best Christmas! What a great idea. I'll have to suggest that to my family. Thanks. |
