Alaskan cruises? |
i'm plannin gon taking a cruise from Seattle to Alaska in February. is this a bad time to go? is it way too cold? what would be the ideal month to go? what are the best towns to make sure are on the cruise? what is the best cruise line for an Alaskan cruise?

Too cold, too dark and too rough. That is why the major cruise lines do not sail at that time. Late June and Early july are the best weather LOTS of SUNSHINE. Prices are up because you see so much. Whales salmon moose etc.. and the weather is warm
Princess and Holland America are my favorites. They have been sailing there the longest and have great tours and itineraries. If you have the time take a land pkg option at least 3 extra days. Good luck |

it's really cold. i went during the summer and it wasn't that bad,but that's just the summer. any of the towns in Alaska are good,i really like ketchikan. I would go on princess or royal Caribbean for an Alaskan cruise,but i have only been on a princess Alaskan cruise. The entertainment is better (in my opinion) on princess. |

YEs its a bit cold; to me the whole idea was to plan excursions to see something real aside from tourist towns selling strange jewelery and trinkets. Realize that you will be mostly on the ship and relatively short time on land. We took NCL, large ship, plenty to do. |

well i would think it's too cold. I went in June of last year, and the warmest I saw was the mid-50's. Even then, most of the cruise i had a coat and scarf on. |

Wow, I didn't even know any ships sailed for pleasure in that area in February!
It will be cold and dark that time of year. Not really ideal if you want to see the landscape and sights.
May is one of the better times to go if you want to go dog-sledding, but otherwise the closer to June 21st the longer the days are, and the more you'll be able to see. September is even good since the weather is still nice and the rates are lower.
