You are not likely to get sea sick unless you are really sensitive to motion.
(1) All of the new ships now being built have automatic stabilizer that all but eliminate any rocking from side to side. And these newer passenger ships are so long, most 900 feet to almost 1,000 feet, that the front to back motion is also all but eliminated.
(2) Cruise ships generally move from port to port overnight, generally about 6:00 PM. You go to dinner between 6 and 8 PM, maybe go to the evening show and maybe the disco and then go to bed. And when you awake the next morning you are in a new port. So you sleep a good portion of the time when the ship is moving.
(3) Cruise ships make every effort to stay away from bad weather that would cause the ship to rock, even changing the order of port stops if weather is bad at one.
(4) There are some other options to combat sea sickness. One is a prescription from your Dr for either pills or a patch that is applies behind the ear. The best option if you don't want to be drugged is a wrist bracelet that you can purchase at boating stores. http://www.biobands.com/

The ships are remarkably stable. I was very worried about getting motion sickness too, because all sorts of things will trigger my motion sickness when I'm in a car. I just took dramamine before I got on the boat and made sure to get plenty of fresh air, and my motion sickness never really flared up. The motion sickness patches are effective, though I didn't end up needing them on the ship. After a little bit, I actually ended up enjoying the subtle rocking of the ship. I'd recommend doing a very short cruise (just 3 days) for your first time, just in case it doesn't agree with you.

Yes there is a patch to wear. My other half gets seasick so she wears the patch and its not a problem. Ships do not rock as much anymore as they used to. The patch is by prescription only and your family Dr should give you a prescription for it.

ive been on cruises in the caribbean and the pacific
i was in the carribean when the hurricane winds and waves were wild like 2 weeks ago
thats the only time i felt anything rocking on the ship

other then that because of the hurricane, its not bad
my mom got sick because of the ship rocking and they sell motion sickness pills on the ship. just take 1 of them and you'll feel fine
but if you really don't feel good, every ship has a doctor on board
just go see them
although i think you'll be fine
i never really hear of anyone getting sick

and yes you get used to feeling the boat move a tiny bit
and when you get off the ship when your cruise is finished you still feel like your rocking

but its so stutle you barely feel it

The advantage modern cruise ships is that in addition to being so large, they also have stabilizers that keep the ship from rocking side-to-side. In normal seas the motion of the ship is barely perceptible. Many cruise ships have pool tables (they are self-leveling). Dramamine (you can get this at any drug store) is the popular prevention of different types of seasickness. It comes in pills, chewables and a small patch you put behind your ear.
