You will have a great time, it's a truly fantastic experience. The boats are quite small and do not have a great number of passengers so you will get to know everyone pretty quickly.
Most excursions leave early in the morning (about 7-8am) and usually finish in time for lunch on the boat. The guides, who sail on the boat with you are all qualified Egyptologists and speak good English.
The afternoons are spent relaxing and sunbathing while cruising to the next stop.
The price of drinks on the boats are quite expensive, because everything is imported.
You can either get your tourist visa before you arrive in Egypt or the cruise director will get one for you. He will also take care of all the tipping, which leaves you free to enjoy yourself. He will collect the tips from you on your last day an you settle your bar bill on the last day as well.
If you get the chance, take the flight to Abu Simbel to see the temples. It's worth the extra cash, just for the flight over the desert as the sun is rising.

You will get a Nile tummy!
Before you go visit your chemist and get some pills. It is debilitating and will spoil your trip.

So go well prepared - and then it will not happen! Don't say "it won't happen to me".

As another answer said, go for the "away-day" to Abu Simbal. It is truly one of the great "must see's" in Egypt. Go by plane, it is a long way (but well worth it) and the coach trip would be hard!

Cotact Euro Med,i Cairo. The director is (or was) a lady called Char Mafouz. she can supply a guide, man or woman.
Amel Elfar was our guide, for 3 weeks she is an Egyptologist and well versed in all aspects of Egypt, she willl take you to places you have only dreamed about while on the cruise ship, and knows ALL the history and it won't cost you too much, a couple of hundred dollars. The guide will stay with you on the trip down the Nile and be discreet about leaving you in peace when you need it.
Make sure you take very light weight cotton LONGER sleeved shirts and pants, this is a muslim country and you must obey the religious rules so that you don't offend anyone.
The local "chant as it were by merchants when you go shopping , is "No Charge for looking" they ALL say this, to try to get you into their shop to buy, and it's not unusual if you are a woman traveling with your husband for the local young men to offer a few thousand camels for your hand in marriage( or what ever else they have in mind) it's all in fun so don't be offended..
Be prepared to hand out Egyptian "pounds" as tips to anyone who helps you, one or two per tip.
Don't buy postcards from ANY young boy or girl selling them at tourist sights, the post cards are all badly printed except for the one on top, and if you do buy what you think are a good set, they WILL be switched before they are put in your hand and the kid runs away laughing his head off at "getting" the tourist. and be careful when buying what looks like elaborate jewelery, One lady who was traveling on the same boat as us bought a beautiful necklace which later turned out to be made from colored maccaroni.
DO NOT under any circumstances eat ANY fruit that has not been washed BY YOU in bottled water, before even peeling it. you will get VERY SICK! I ate an orange after peeling it and boy was I ill for 4 days as was my husband. Get something for "Nile Tummy from you doctor before you go, Imodium does NOT work for this kind of bug, it's 100% worse than Mexico. also get some Malaria tablets and start taking them two weeks before you go. Make sure your Hepatituse shots are up to date too, if you have never had them , get them before you go. To buy anything, you can do some bargaining, that's a lot of fun, what ever they ask offer less than half, they will feign horror, but then gently climb in your price until you are paying a fair price, and everybody is happy.
Expect to drink Gallons of bottled water, make sure the top on the bottle IS sealed before you buy it.
Egyptian people are wonderfully hospitable, and the nile cruise is fantastic too.
We were on Sonesta Nile Goddess, and loved every minute of it. Take along a hat with a big brim, not a baseball hat, there's not enough shade, the heat and the sun take toll on your energy because you are so close to the Desert.
Don't expect European food anywhere, except on the ship. but have a wonderful time seeing history and you will! More history than you have ever dreamed of.

weezy f baby
mosquitos will bite your bum so becareful. and dont fall for any scams like
those love scams and so on.
