Yes, took my family on a Nile cruise from Aswan down to Cairo and can thoroughly recommend it. You should choose one of the better boats though. There are lots of operators on this route, some better than others. Can recommend the Sheraton boats. Expensive but well worth it.

I,ve been twice and it's an amazing experience. It's the best way to see Egypt as you spend each day just cruising along the river and all the important sites of Upper Egypt are close to the Nile so you just get off each day to a new temple.
The people are mostly friendly and there is a lot of security even if some of it doesn't seem very effective.
Just watch out for bakseesh, every minor favour is expected to be rewarded but only tip those who are genuinely helpful.
As with all tourist places there are crooks so watch out for some of the scams. One of the favourites is to confuse the Egyptian one pound and ten pound notes which are the same colour but different sizes.
It's best to count the notes out one at a time when you are paying someone in a market etc.
