Get your US passport now. The US State Department is backup beyond their eyeballs in paperwork. Check out Royal Caribbean's web site and take a tour of the ship while still at home. This web site will have a lot of information for you. Check it out. Royal Caribbean will also send you a very detailed cruising book. This book will have your boarding passes in it. Read it before you leave. Buy the insurance for your cruise. It is worth it. You are paying a lot of money to go on a cruise and getting the flu before you leave will not cut it for refunds without having the insurance. Recommend you plan and pay your side trips (things that you can do while in port) before you leave home. If you don't you will have long lines when you get on your ship and may miss out. Have fun. |

I was on the Navigator of the Seas in August 2004 (unfortunately I did not write a review for that cruise) when it was still doing one week cruises. It is a fantastic ship with lots of options [swimming, rock climbing, skating (both ice and inline) and miniature golf, just to name a few]. The Royal Promenade is amazing ...

and it is a great place to just hang out and people watch.
Don't forget to see the ice show (it is free, but you have to pick up a ticket).
The Voyager class of ships is so popular that Royal Caribbean decided to make one available to the short cruise (four and five night) passengers. You should have a great time. Enjoy your cruise. |

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only

I have not been on the Navigator but have been on its twin identical sister Adventure of the Seas. We were just on the Adventure this past May. It is a very nice ship. The food, service, and staff were great. The ship has a promenade mall down its center where there are shops and restaurants. There is a place in the mall where you can get pizza and other foods 24/7. The ship has a rock climbing wall, a roller blade track, basketball/volleyball court, pink pong tables, multiple pools and hot tubs including some for adults only. It has a mini-golf course, a place to play table games, an internet cafe. You can really get a great preview of the ship by going to the royal Caribbean web site and clicking on "ships" and then it will allow you to see a 360 degree view of many areas of the ship.

Here are some tips:
- Join the cruise club so that the cruise line will send you their specials and so that you can get discounts on future cruises with them. The discount will typically be $50 to $100 per person. If you will be celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or birthday during the cruise, be sure to tell them, they will do special stuff for that.
- Most cruises have two formal nights when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. Cruise lines charge a lot for the photos they take so take your own photos around the ship when you get the chance, especially on the formal nights. Ask other passengers to take photos for you, they generally are very willing.
The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM. So take swim wear, shorts, sandals, beach shoes, your snorkel equipment if you have it, sun glasses and sun screen, lotions, a cap or big hat for the sun, a book if you are a reader, your music player, sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym, your camera, and other personal toiletries.
After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, bars, casino, etc.
Most cruises have two formal nights when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. But most people do dress up in a tux for men and a long dress (any color) for women. Some men just wear a suit and tie and some women wear a nice dress but not a gown. You will not be denied access to the dining room or anything else if you choose not to dress up. (we usually take off the formal stuff after dinner and pictures anyway).
- Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage. Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and your clothes that you sleep in.
- Take a small bottle of hand sanitizer; the cruise ship will have dispensers at the entrance of most eating places but sometimes they are empty or don't work well. |
