I wasn't married at sea, but I think that it would be very special and unique to have a cruise/destination wedding. I would recommend the Cunard line for you; it's a luxury cruise line and would be so grand and fairytale-like for your special day! |

I wasn't married on a cruise ship, but I was to a wedding on a cruise ship 2 years ago.
Personally, I didn't think it was that great! I'm sure the view is different if you're the one getting married but, it was very short, it happened before we even left port (most people were not even on board yet b/c we boarded super early with permission b/c of the wedding) and it didn't seem to be s p e c i a l.
I hope you have more luck - maybe you can get married when you're actually at sea, that would be nice. |

I got married on the beautiful TS Maxim Gorki, a European Ship, last year March. As I worked on the same ship for a couple of years before it was quite easy to organize as I knew nearly everybody. I' not very firm with US-Rules when it comes to weddings but I suppose things go a lot easier there than here. Normally, when u r catholic, a church wedding on a cruise liner is not accepted by the pope so if yours should be a church wedding, make sure you find a liberal priest (or just be protestant, methodist or anything but catholic...). Here in Europe the Ship Wedding can only replace a church wedding, not the "official" one, so you have to be married by law already and bring the necessary docs with. - but then again you've got those easy Las Vegas ceremonies there... should be similar on the ship. Generally the captain is allowed to marry you. But normally you've got to inquire in advance for that. If I was you, i would get in touch with the ships company. They should have more information for you! Don't forget to ask if you can get a discount for your wedding party. I don't know how common ship weddings are in America but on the European market there is certainly no ship with a wedding planner on board.
Our Wedding was an unforgettable experience!!! The very good thing on board is, that you don't have to pay extra to hire musicians, photographers etc... They are all on board anyway! We did the service about 2 hours before dinner, then it was service - photos - cocktail - dinner - show - party till early morning. That was perfect timing! Any more Questions? Just ask again!
Good luck for all! |

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. A cruise ship wedding is very whimsical and romantic. I've thought about having my wedding on a Disney Cruise Ship. The plus about having this type of wedding is that it's not traditional and it's very private and low key. There should be a wedding planner on board to cater to your wishes and help to make you feel like Queen for a day. Be certain to express your wants and your vision for the ceremony. It's a great choice because, not only will you have the breath taking scenery of Alaska, but you don't have to worry about where to go for your honeymoon. The down side is that you're limited as to the number of guest you can invite. Finances may not allow everyone to attend. Afterward, you could always have a reception and invite any and every one you can think of. |
