Are you suppose to tip a travel agent? ? |
My fiance and I are going on a cruise for our Honeymoon. We just went and payed it off last week. This is the first time either one of us have traveled using a travel agent. After we left her office I just thought, I wonder if you tip travel agents? I mean it has been so nice not having to worry about any reservations or anything! She has done it all!! So does anyone know if you are suppose to?? Or do you do it when you got through a TA?? |

I have never received a tip as a travel agent, and I know the company I worked for probably would have frowned upon me accepting cash from a customer. I always really appreciated it if when people came back and told me how brilliant their holiday was. A few customers brought me back a small gift to say thanks - and i was really touched that they thought about getting me something whilst they were away (I know this would always mean more to me than if they had given me a tip) Most travel agents would also get some form of commission from the sale also.

It is not typical to tip travel agents and they don't expect one. However, you certainly can if you think that the person did a really terrific job and you want to do something nice to recognize it. I once received a bottle of scotch from a grateful customer after handling an unusually complicated itinerary. |

Travel agents are helpful to you because they want you to have a good vacation/trip.
Travel agents are paid commission by the cruise lines, airlines and hotels.
Now a travel agency may add on anywhere from $5 to $35 (depending on your trip) to the cost of your entire package.. You should notice how much on the itinerary |
