Best Cruise to the Bahamas? |
I am planning on taking a cruise to see the Bahamas. I'm hoping to get some advice as to what the best cruise line would be and what to expect on it. I haven't been on a cruise since I was little so the details are a bit hazy. I'm 23 and single, however I am not a big party animal. I just got out of a serious relationship so I'm not looking for love or a party with random hookups...and I am most likely going to go with a group of about 4 other girls my age. Thank you guys!! |

it really depends on your style, if you want a nice elegant cruising, to relax, go with RCI, the ships are really classy and easy to navigate
carnival is more of a active/party atmosphere, they are designed with a party type decor , but its usually cheaper to sail them, i never sailed them before, bu there are what they are
there is also NCL with freestyle, and a host of other lines |

I just got off of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. We went to Mexico - but I would think it would be the same to the Bahamas. First of all - the ship/food/service was only so-so. But, it was definitely a more "adult" ship. However, I have been on about 20 cruises and my favorite ones have always been on Carnival. (Oh.. and I am 29). I have always had the most fun, best food/service and had a blast. The last cruise on Carnival was for my brother's wedding last year and everyone from the teenagers all the way to the grandmothers in the wedding party had an absolute blast. And the best part, Carnival is usually a little cheaper.
But, be careful if booking around Sept/Oct. Remember that although the cruises may be cheaper at those dates.. it's because that is Hurricane Season and there is a chance that the cruise could be cancelled or postponed. And, if you don't buy the cruise insurance, technically, the don't have to reschedule you onto another ship.
Good luck and have fun! |

It really depends on the ages of those other girls. I love Carnival but you are too young to book by yourself unless one of those girls is 25.

Read that to find out the age restrictions. The worst thing would be to discover that you could not get onboard when you got there.
When are you going? The Bahamas are not as warm as people think. If you go to the Southern Caribbean even in Dec/Jan it is warm. But if you go to the Bahamas, it is quite chilly. Of course it is warm in summer.
It really depends on you and your friends. Holland is more for older people. My personal opinion is avoid NCL at all cost. Princess and Celebrity are awesome but expensive. RC and Carnival are less expensive cruise lines. Carnival is more party oriented and RC is more couples oriented. It's more romantic IMHO. However Carnival has more singles events---which actually pissed me off. My husband and I were not allowed to enter the club all week on our last cruise between the Singles events and the teen night. Great meet and greet events if you are single however.
At 23, I'd look at the itinerary and the price. I know that's what mattered to me. You don't want a cruise that is going to all private islands or small new ports. Grand Turks and St Kitts are very much nature preserves, not developed yet. Many of the Bahama stops are private islands owned by the cruise ship so read the reviews on cruise critic.
My only recommendation is not to bother with Freeport. It's horrible. Nothing there and nothing but Made in China crap at every single stall. It is identical at every one--can cozies and tshirts. I'd consider Freeport a port where I'd book a spa day if I ever go there again. The spa is cheaper on days in port than days at sea.
Good luck! |

I went on a cruise with my parents (lame I know but I was only 18) to the Bahamas on Royal Caribbean. It was a really nice cruise ship and everything was awesome.
I also went on a cruise when I was 14 on Carnival Cruise Lines. We went to Mexico. I personally think that Carnival is more geared for younger people and younger adults. The entertainment is designed for people who are young adults.
I would say go for CARNIVAL. Its cheaper too and try going to sidestep.com to see if you can find some good tickets. :)
Happy sailing :) |
