Best cruise for young couples? |
I would like to go on a cruise with my husband next May. We will be 25. I want to go on a cruise to somewhere a little different - so many people go to the caribbean. I have looked into cruises that go along the US/Canada borders, both Pacific and Atlantic sides. I like the looks of them, but it looks like for the most part people are 40 and over. Does anyone know of a cruise that has younger people but doesn't go somewhere too generic? Additional Details Thanks for the answers that I have gotten so far! Now - what about Celebrity Cruises? |

Royal Caribbean and Carnival both tend to be more popular with the younger crowd than other cruise lines, so focus your search on them. You can try cruises that go to Mexico or Alaska; there are some that "Cruise to Nowhere" that don't stop at any ports and you just get to enjoy the ship. The Caribbean has plenty to offer young travelers, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. |

Hi there!
I wouldn't say that I am omniscient when it comes to cruising, but after 20+ cruises, I would say I have a handle on it. To go somewhere that would have younger people onboard, you definitely would have to choose the right cruiseline. My only four choices for you would be Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, and Norwegian Cruise Line; all these cruiseline exhibit the vibrant and active lifestyle that you are looking for. Also, the time of year really matters when looking for the younger crowd. The summer months are the only time that would have the major surge of younger couples and families, as the school season would control the vacationing months. During the summer season, I would definitely recommend the Mediterranean (NOT the Baltic) and Hawaii. Avoid Alaska, as these itinerary attract more "mature" couples. For something closer, you should try the Southern Caribbean. Yes, this is Caribbean, but you start cruising out of San Juan and you visti the more exotic ports (St. Lucia, Barbados, Aruba, Curacao, etc) that normal Caribbean cruises wouldn't include.
Personally, I don't like to cruise with Carnival because the guests and some staff onboard makes the cruising experience horrible. Make sure to check to see how old the ship is before deciding.
Here are some amazing vessels that I have been on that would definitely suit you for the summer next year: Pride of America (NCL/Hawaii), Brilliance of the Seas (Royal/Mediterranean), Adventure of the Seas (Royall/ Southern Caribbean), Emerald Princess (Princess/Mediterranean), Carnival Splendour (Mediterranean).
Hope this helps and wish you the best of luck! |

Don't pay attention to Bob K Carnival is a good cruise line (I have been on 5 Carnival Cruises) but he really doesn't answer your question. I live in Maine so trust me when I say avoid the Canadian cruises (in May), at least along the Eastern coast. The water is choppy and the weather is cold. The Alaska cruises are nice but you are correct in your assumption that the average age of the guest will be above 40. Bob is Right about the Med but do you have the time to take what will be a long cruise. Even if you only go for 7 days you will need at least 4 days travel time. So if you can get two weeks great...and the prices are not all that much more. I would suggest Hawaii but you are looking at some pricey cruises. Depending upon where you are flying from the flight is not so bad. Good luck, but I'm sure no matter what cruise you select you will have a great time. |

Royal Caribbean is great for romantic couples. It is more high class.
Carnival is for college students and it's more of an immature party scene. |

Mexico is good. My wife and I took a cruise for our 10 th anniversary, we were 30. It was a seven day cruise from San Diego down to Cubo San Lucs, Mazatlan & Puerto Vallarta. The ship had tours available for guest, we took several and had lot's of fun. We are planning to do another cruise very soon. The boat was filled about 3/4 with old people. But that shouldn't stop you from taking a cruise. Another opion is calling the cruise line, some times they have speical events for young couples. |

The age group varies greatly from one sailing to the next so there is no way to say go on this ship if you want a younger crowd. There are always some people your age on just about every sailing as far as I have seen. (Ihave been on over 20 cruises and 7 different cruise lines). The Mexican Riviera is fun. Have you considered Hawaii, Alaska, or Tahiti? May is just a little early for really enjoying Alaska, but they do start sailing then.
Maybe you would enjoy one of the smaller ships that actually use sails. I just booked a couple on one that travels the East Coast and is only about $1000 per person and includes a tour in each of the cities. There are lots of options and you really should talk with a cruise specialist, not just a travel agent

You can take a cruise to Hawaii, it has quite a few younger couples, since Hawaii mostly consists of outdoor activities. For something more exotic, you can try a Mediterranean cruise that goes to Italian ports as well as Greece and Spain. |
