I have been on 20 cruises with four different cruise lines; Princess, Celebrity, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean. I have cruised all over the Caribbean, to Alaska, South America and Europe. There are some luxury cruise lines like Seaborn and Crystal that are considered the VERY BEST. But I have not cruised on them and most people do cruise on those that I have mentioned above plus Carnival, Disney and Holland America. My best cruise was a 12 day cruise to the Mediterranean on Royal Caribbean. While there are some differences among the cruise lines, the best one is usually based on personal preferences.

- Princess, Celebrity and Holland America have great ships are more classy and reserved. They are just a little more upscale and luxurious than the other cruise lines. Passengers tend to be middle aged and up and have cruised multiple times. Holland America has mostly senior citizens cruising on its ships. Princess and Holland America also have the "eat dinner whenever you want" policy if that's important to you.

-Norwegian cruise line is good, they cater to families and have mostly passengers in the range of age 35-40 and up. Its the line that you want to go on if you want to be informal for pretty much your whole cruise. They have formal nights like other cruise lines but they do not stress dressing up; the call it "dress up if you want to" night. This is the cruise line that advertises "freestyle cruising"; meaning you do not have a set dinner seating but just go anytime you want after about 6:00 PM.

Carnival is the budget cruise line that generally has the lowest prices. They cater to young people, first time cruiser, and families. The best of their ships are their newer ships so do pay attention to when the ship was launched is you find a really cheap cruise.

Royal Caribbean is also a cruise line that caters to young cruiser and families. It has the advantage of having the most on-board activities. Things like ice skating, roller blading, mini-golf course, a full sized basketball/tennis court, the rock climbing wall, and on the new Freedom Class ships the surfing simulator, the Flowrider.

My favorites and the ones that I consider the best are Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Princess. More than half of the cruises I have taken have been on those three.

Cruises are priced based on the type cabin/accommodations you select, the number of days that you cruise, when you book your cruise and the date of your cruise. So since I usually go on cruises of 7 or 14 days and book a balcony cabin my cruises are generally in the range of $1,000 to $1,200 for a 7 day cruise and about $2,200 for a 14 day cruise. And that is per person with two people in the cabin. If you are looking for the lowest price then these days you can find a 7 day cruise in an inside cabin for about $600. per person; sometimes less.

8 cruises including Princess, Celebrity and Carnival. Liked carnival the best and Jamaica was my favorite port. Beautiful views, wonderful locals, great service and you MUST see Dunn's Fall River. 900 foot falls that you walk UP. It's wonderful. I went during Jamaica's independence day and there were thousands of Jamaicans walking the streets singing Bob Marley songs. It was Gorgeous.

I like Carnival the best and everyone I have talked to like them the best. We just went to the southern tropics about a month ago. Destiny Ship stopped at a different port every day. Which that was a first for us because we had at sea days on the other ships. I don't recommend the ships that stop some where each day if you like to gamble , THERE ISN'T ANY GAMBLING ON SHIP WHEN IN PORT.

HEY ALEXA I WENT THINK WE WENT ON THE SAME SHIP DID YOU DO THE 27TH -AUG 2

I think it was maybe 600.00 US $ for a 7nt trip a person but they charge bye the room so $1200.00 more then 2 people they give you a discount

I've only been on one, down the Nile from Luxor to Aswan and it was WONDERFUL. Cost about £1000.

ive been on 2 cruises i loved both and had such an amazing time

i lat year i went to Hawaii on NCL.
it went from honolulu to hilo, kona, maui (2 days), kauai (2 days)
it was beautiful it was in august and it cost about 1800 per person

then i went on a southern Caribbean last month on Carnival
it went from Puerto Rico, to St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Kitts
it was in july and about 1400 per person

i liked both cruises a lot
the food is okay, not the best, but then again they're not the most expensive cruises.
the staff on carnival is SO much better, very polite and things are done quick and right. the staff even greeted me by my name which most people call me alexis, they were all international staff and all got it right the first time.

the activities on NCL were better, carnival i was kinda bored with a few of their shows (dancing, musicals, comedians weren't very funny)

royal caribbean is suppose to be a lot better, ive heard a lot of good things about RC so i would try that one next

I've been on 50 cruises, being a Cruise Travel Agent. I'd say my favorite cruise was a 12 night Greek Isles cruise. It was awesome!

If you'd like to discuss alternatives, feel free to contact me.
