The dining room. Skip the buffet. You are on vacation. Let them pamper you. As far as the statroom, I always get an interior. I prefer a higher deck, midships to the front.

The rule used to be to get a cabin at mid-ship because this was where there was the least amount of movement, however, once ships started being built with pods, stabilizers and thrusters, the ship could be kept at a more even keel and the pods (that provide propulsion) no longer make it necessary to stay away from the back of the ship to avoid the noise and vibration of the propellers. I would still try to avoid cabins too near the elevators, stairs, or cabins along the corridor to the pool, dining room, or casino. Have a great time.

Congratulations on your cruise! You'll have a wonderful time. Check the map online or in the literature you have from the cruise company. Decide where you'll spend a lot of your time. Do you gamble? Choose a spot close to the casino. Is food the big draw of a cruise? Choose a spot near the dining room where you'll eat. They look huge, but the ships are small enough that within a few days you'll get around easily regardless of where your room is. Have a fabulous time!

I would say away from the elevators would be great because it is less noisy. If you can get into the middle of the ship and not so close to the elevators it would be great. Being in the middle of the ship will make traveling better and you shouldn't get sea sick.

I loved being on the deck that has the lifeboats above it. Not the top deck, but the middle deck. That was fun because you were close to the ocean and could see dolphins and whales jumping out of the water and you could feel the wind and the sea mist.

If you have already reserved your cruise, and unless you got one of those "guaranteed" reservations where you cabin is assigned after all others who have been assigned, its probably too late to worry about your cabin assignment. Normally you are assigned a cabin when you book. If you have a number of weeks or months before your cruise, you can ask your agent to request a different available cabin in your category. If all of the other cabins in your category are booked, then you are stuck.

I have been on many cruises and I prefer just a little ahead or behind mid-ship. Generally ships, depending on size, will have two or three sets of elevator bays. Never get a cabin right at the elevator bay as you will get all of the noise of people coming and going. But a cabin just 2 or 3 cabins away from the bay can make a difference in noise. Also, most ships have the main dining room and buffet areas at the rear of the ship and the show room and gym at the front. So you may want to consider which of these you want to use the most as a guide to whetehr you are more forward or aft on ship. On the big ships it can be a long long walk from a cabin up front back to the elevators to get to the dining room in the back.

I agree with babjos - middle is good and away from elevators. Have loads of fun!!

Window is necessary of you ever feel claustrophobic.

ok, you are on a lw deck. Unclear if you have a full window or a prothole. Its smart to have an outert room

As indicated above, on the newer large ship, there is no sense of movement. We were at the very front with high seas and felt nothing. The was the rooms are layed out, even if you are near the elevator it shouldnt be bad.

anywhere is good, the room is just for sleeping and maybe for something else, the rest of the time, its a party

3rd deck --> not the greatest place to choose. (motion sickness may occor)
go for any part wher the engine isnt right obove or below u.
ocean view --> rip off! 2x4 window= extra 200$
near the elevator is good so u dont have to walk too much

Mid-ship if possible, otherwise go more towards the front if need be as opposed to way towards the back. If you are to far back it can tend to get noisy with the engines.

i agree with any place is a good place on a cruise ship! :)

But the rule of thumb is middle/middle of the ship.

First of all..you wasted money on the room. Always get the cheapest room you can on the lowest deck. Just as good service ..no window..but you spend VERY LITTLE time in your room day or night. There's just too much fun to be had!!!!
