Bringing liquor on a ship?

First of all YES you can bring soft drinks and water on board the ship. I take a six-pack of soft drinks AND a six-pack of bottled water in my carry on for all of my cruises (provided I can find a place to buy it after my flight and always when I drive to the port). I have done this about 7 or 8 times. And I have bought soft drinks and bottled water in port stops too and brought it back on ship.

Here's what I suggest for leaving from home:

- Pack your liquor in your checked baggage and never your carry on bag;
- Instead of buying a fifth or quart bottle, take a couple pint or half-pint bottles; consider also the mini-bottles of liquor.
- Pack your liquor in a zip lock bag just in case they spill, and then in a heavy weight sock like a gym sock;
- Pack your liquor in the midst of your toiletries so that if it shows on the x-ray scanner it will be with other small bottles;
- Pack all of it in a place near a firm place in the center of your luggage (so it does not get bumped on either side).

When you order drinks on ship, specify in a plain glass so they do not charge you that $2.00 extra for the fancy glasses.

When on ship always order your drinks in a plain glass (you must specify this or they will bring it in a fancy glass); this will save you about $2.00 per drink. When you get your liquor to your cabin, do NOT leave it sitting out; keep it out of sight because you never know what member of the crew may see it in passing your cabin door while the room steward is cleaning.

you wont get away with it unless you sit in your cabin and drink it, what fun that would be.

You can put it in your checked in luggage. Put it in a plastic bottle, and in a zip lock bag also. We do it all the time.
You can bring soda on board.

Pay the price and have fun....if you have to cut corners...go to a movie.

You can't bring drinks, even water, on board anymore. I believe that they will confiscate it if they find it. I'm not sure if you can get it back at the end of the trip or not.

(BTW I have carried on liquor in the past and it is hit and miss if you will get caught, what is done etc. As a rule they will NOT throw you off the ship (too much liability for such a "small" infraction...) I agree that the over-inflated prices for even basics like beer/wine make you reconsider your mores and tempt fate as a smuggler of contraband against your better judgement, but REALLY... is it that big a deal??? Best thing to do if you are inclined to follow the rules is to make sure you dis-embark and do your drinking ashore! (that'll show 'em)

Oh and one more thing... now some lines won't let you bring SODA either!

They are pretty strict because they drop their ticket prices to get people on board and make it up while you are out to sea.

Try booking all inclusive next time it costs more up front but saves money in the long run.

or don't drink you can drink when you are back home

Bringing liquor onboard is a no-no. Soda is a different story--it's allowed. We brought a bunch of pepsi with us on the last cruise. It gets too expensive buying it onboard the ship

You can by liquor and bring it on the ship ONLY if it is at a port of call. They will keep it locked up until the end of the cruise. You will receive it on the last day. If you bring outside liquor (from home) you will be kicked off the ship.

DON'T DO IT, YOU COULD FIND YOURSELF ON THE DOCK WHEN THE SHIP SAILS, SPEND THE MONEY, OR PAY THE PRICE... NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE!!!
