CRUiSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Okay, so I'm 14.
I'm going on a huge cruise with my entire extended family.
Probably over 50 people total.
I AM SO EXCITED.
We're going to Mexico on a 5-day Royal Caribbean Cruise (Enchantment of the Seas).
This is my second cruise.
We live in New Jersey and we're leaving June 23rd.

What should I bring?
What should i wear?
What are some things that I should check out?
What kind of activities do you recommend for 2 crazy 14 year old girls?

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM. So take swim wear, shorts, sandals, beach shoes, your snorkel equipment if you have it, sun glasses and sun screen, lotions, a cap or big hat for the sun, a book if you are a reader, your music player, sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym, good walking shoes, your camera, and other personal toiletries.

Your cabin will have towels and soap provided, including pool and beach towels. It will also have a generic hair shampoo so you do not need to bring that unless you like a specific brand. They do not provide tooth paste, mouth wash or lotions. They DO provide a hair dryer.

After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports or resort casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, (like a bank employee), shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, etc.

Most cruises have a formal night or two when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. But most people do dress up in a tux for men and a long dress (any color) for women.

- Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage. Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and your clothes that you sleep in.

-If you want to use the gym, pool and/or hot tub as soon as you get on ship pack those clothes and a change of clothes in your carry on bag because it will be hours after you board before you get your luggage.

- If you are taking your cell phone, MP3 player or other item that needs to be plugged in take an extension cord as the plugs in the cabin are generally not in the best places and there are usually only one or two.

- Take a small bottle of hand sanitizer. There are generally sanitizer dispensers at the entrances of restaurants, the buffets and dining room, but some times the are not there or not working. The sanitizer helps prevent the spread of the Norwalk Virus that sometimes occur on cruise ships.

--You cabin will likely have a minibar with soft drinks and munchies; you have to pay for them, but there is free room service 24/7.

All Royal Caribbean ships have an area of the ship that's specifically for kids called Adventure Ocean which is for kids up to age 17. Your ship will have that and also a teen disco area and they will have pizza parties there. There is also a video arcade near the Teen disco. There is also a spot on the back of the ship that has a bungee trampoline. And don't forget the rock climbing wall if you have the nerve to try it.

Just enjoy yourselves all over the ship.

check out cruisecritic.com. You can post questions about cruising there. Try the teen section. Or join a roll call for your specific cruise and "meet" other teens that will be sailing with you.

I will just offer a couple tips that you should know.

1. Choose/reserve the LATE dining time. (8pm usually). When you get stuck with the early dining time, then it shortens your day. You will be having fun on the island, maybe enjoying an excursion, and you'll have to stop short so that you can get all the way back to the ship, shower, dress, and head to dinner. I was SOOOO glad that another cruiser told me this before my first cruise (I'm on my 8th!)>

2. Book all of your excursions in advance throygh the company's website, or your travel agent. if you can't, then do it as soon as you get on the ship. The best excursions will fill up, and you could be disappointed when you go to book later, just to find out they are sold out.

3. Get to the theaters early when you go to see a show. It is worth it. You get a much better view, and if it is a comedy, then they will interact with you. It's just a better experience, and worth leaving your room early. Juct have a drink and relax.

4. "he who asks for the most, gets the most". The cruise line is just waiting to make you happy. I asked for the Captains table, and POOF! They gave it to me. We sat with the captain each night, and got a trip to the steering room. I asked my room attendant to really show my girlfriend a nice time....so he did. he went out of his way to make the room pretty, and full of flowers for her.

I hope you have a great and safe time!

bring ALOT of comfortable clothes, because im 14 and usually i hang out at the teen clubs and its really cool, you meet alot of friends, make sure to bring a camera so you can take pictures of what you do and share it on myspace, bring like 1 or 2 dresses for the formal nights and just have fun in the islands they are all great, GOOD LUCK :)
