I was told a passport card is used only for driving across borders & not for air travel. I would highly suggest you either call the cruise line or your local post office. Better to have everything in order now than running around at the last minute.

The best thing to do is contact the cruiseline but from my understanding, the passport card will be sufficient. It is NOT valid for INTERNATIONAL AIR travel. Which cruise line are you taking? RCI is the best for me! Have fun!

You will need your passport. You don't need a birth cert. or your drivers' license unless you are planning to rent a car.

I took a cruise with my boyfriend at the time and got a passport in order to go on the cruise. It's always better to be safe than sorry. So, if a passport is strongly recommended. The best thing to do is to get a passport. If you can afford to go on a cruise, you should be able to afford a passport.

After June 1, 2009, you WILL need a passport to re-enter the US by air, land or sea. No other documentation will be accepted...not even the passport card.

Rather than get the passport card last year ($45), which is no good after 6/01/09, my husband and I invested in passports.

Might as well invest in one now; it will be good for 10 years.

You can use the passport card. Unless you plan on traveling outside of the US by air, the passport card will work. Here is the link

if you have any questions contact the cruise line they should be able to tell you.
