Can I wear a Scottish kilt to formal night on a cruise? |
I'll be going on a Royal Caribbean cruise and I want to wear my kilt with a jacket & tie to the formal dinner. The guidebook described formal night as suits & ties or tuxedos, so would they tell me to go change? |

You won't have a problem. I have been on many cruises and have never seen anyone having a problem wearing a kilt on a formal night. |

sure you can...our table mates in October were from Scotland and he wore his kilt to formal night and looked amazing. You should wear it. |

I have seen this several times on a cruise and everyone seems to love it. I once was on a Mediterranean cruise and a fellow even brought his bag pipes. Every time we headed for a port, he got outside on deck seven and played his heart out. I shall never forget that. It was just wonderful. |

yeah course you can. They wouldn't tell you to change. Kilts are the scottish formal. Go ahead wear it. |

YES! I have friends who have worn their formal Scottish kilts, etc. for formal nights on the QE2 and other ships. It is wonderful!!!!! |

Certainly! Of course you can.
But you really should look into a Jacket and waistcoat (vest) cut for wearing with a kilt, if you don't have one. Regular jackets are too long, really, as kilts are worn higher on the body than pants. So the jacket is cut higher and also allows space for the sporran on the front.
A nice Argyle jacket or full Prince Charlie jacket and vest are fine for an event like you describe. |

My gut tells me you should be fine. But if in doubt, either pack some pants along with the jacket (just in case), or call someone at Royal Carribean. |

Yeah, Kilts are for special dress occassions, but you will need the whole charlie. Not just the kilt. |
