Can anyone recommend a wildlife cruise ?

I'm not at all interested in plush staterooms, onboard entertainment, city visits - just great opportunities for visiting remote places and close up wildlife tours. e.g. whales, artic birds, polar bears...

Are you talking about a real wildlife tour? If so, then the best way to go is with Lindblad expeditions. It's basically 100% inclusive. Meals, tours, equiptment, etc. They have naturalists and biologists on board to give the excursions and they usually consist of fairly adventurous trips. They get you up close and personal with the wildlife. They sail to all kinds of places like Antarctica, Galapagos, Baja, etc and are associated with National Geographic. But, you pay for their 'natural' stance, quite dearly actually (think like $10K for a week for 2 people).

For the migrating whales, consider doing a independant thing. Search for 'baja whale watch tours' and 'bahia magdalena whale' and 'san ignacio lagoon whale' to find places that have tent like things set up on the beach and then take you to the friendly whale lagoons. This is much more cost efficient if this is a concern. You won't be completely roughing it, but you also won't be in a luxurious setting.

Good luck to you!

There are travel agents that specialise with trips like this,it's just a case of searching on the net. also you will find the cheaper trips on the net. Hope you find the holiday you want.

Try the Amazon. www.amazoncruise.net/ - 34k greentracks.com/gateways/amazon-vo-river... - 9k Pink dolphins frolicking about the hull, fishing for piranhas, enjoying the bird life.... Except that you seem to be looking for cooler climes!

if you're looking for something a little more budget than 3500.00 carnival has 3 and 4 day los angeles baha cruises in january and february that are during peak dolphin/whale migration season. earlier poster is right about the stingrays. the snorkel trips are crowded and touristy but its cool to feel them swimming all around you.

as a member of wwf i used to get a lot of offers to go on the $5000.00 galapagos islands type cruises, so you could try wwf.com if you can afford to pay for lectures by charles darwin types

If you go to Grand Cayman, visit Stingray Sand Bar. The Stingrays are so friendly!
