Your cannot use your straightener in the bathroom, the only electrical outlet in the bathroom is for an electric shaver and the fitted hair dryer, which is only useful for demisting the mirror. The is an australian type outlet in the cabin that will take your straighteners. You do not need any different plugs or power converters.
The ship has been refitted for the Australian market. |

they have a socket on Princess cruises [in the cabin near the drawers/dressing table] but you need an adapter plug that matches the voltage.
I used one to charge my mobile. to change UK voltage to American |

I don't know why, cruise ships reach 26knots that about 32 mph.

Of course you will be allowed to bring it along. Whether or not you'll be able to use it will depend on whether the power outlets on the ship have a voltage output you're able to use with your device, and whether or not you are able to fit its power plug into the outlet. Being in Australia, you are probably accustomed to using 240V power and plugging into Type I (AS3112) outlets. The ship's outlets will most likely have the type of outlets and the voltage of its home country, or the home countries of the cruise operator's primary customer base. This information will be available from the cruise line (look for a FAQ on their website). It seems very likely to me that a cruise ship in the South Pacific will have 240V outlets (as opposed to 120V outlets, which are used primarily in North America). If you can confirm that the voltage on the ship is 240V, you're most of the way there. As long as the voltage is correct, it's a simple matter of bringing along, borrowing, or buying the correct adapter to plug your appliance into their outlet.
Bear in mind that there are minor variations in the nominal voltages of different countries, but this is almost never a problem. Some European, Asian, and Pacific countries use 220V, while others use 230V, 240V, or even 250V. The actual voltage that comes out of the wall will usually be somewhere in between these. This is not a problem. If you read the specifications for your appliance (usually stamped into the body or plug, or printed on a tag attached to the cord) it will generally tell you the appropriate voltage range, frequency, and current draw. For a handheld personal care appliance like your hair straightener, the line frequency (50Hz or 60Hz) won't matter at all, and the current consumption will be small enough to not be a problem. All you'll need to worry about is whether the voltage is in the correct range. It might say 200-250V, for example, in which case you'd be fine in most of the world. Most computers now run on anything between 100V and 250V, taking care of the difference automatically. But for your hair straightener, if it needs 220-240V and the outlets on the ship are 120V, it probably won't work without a bulky step-up transformer. I think the odds of this being the case on your cruise ship are very slim, unless it's an American cruise line with primarily American passengers.
Another thing you should probably consider is that you're going on vacation, and you should relax and not worry about whether your hair is perfect. The people around you will be focused on enjoying their vacation, and will not be concerned about how your hair looks. Many people on the ship will have wind-blown hair, soggy just-out-of-the-pool hair, or casual just-woke-up sex hair. Even on the "formal' nights, cruise ships are really never all that formal. so relax, have fun, and don't worry about it! |

You should check the website of the cruise you're planning to take. Often, they say what kind of electronics that you plug in that you can use on the ship. |
