Can my fiance and I go on a cruise?

Well here's the thing my fiance and I are both 20 were getting married this year in Nov. Is there any way possible that we could get on a cruise this summer? I know a lot say you need to be atleast 21 if not 25. But seeing that were engaged, have a house together and all, could there be any possible way for us? Thanks everyone for your input.

All of the cruise lines except Carnival require at least one person in each cabin to be age 21 or older. Carnival requires at least one person age 25. All of the cruise lines make exceptions to the age policy if both person are under age 21 but married. So you can cruise before you are 21 if you are married and proof in the form of your marriage certificate is required, but all of the other things that you mentioned including owning a house and living together do not count. You will just have to wait until the day after your wedding, or the day you are 21, whichever is first.

i'm not sure if that's possible. every cruise that i've been on (over a dozen on several different cruise lines) the requirements were that someone in the room must be 21. because we had several people going on the cruise that were not 21 we had to shuffle room reservations to accommodate this and then we just moved everyone back once on the cruise. Maybe you can invite another couple that are both over 21 and get them to book 2 rooms with each of you as guests of theirs and then just switch rooms once you get there. good luck.

you def can not go on a cruise with carnival or RCL. Both have a 21 yrs of age requirement. and if either one of you are under 20 yrs of age that other person must be at least 25 yrs old. They do not make exceptions even if you are engaged.

Here is Royal Caribbean's age policy. The other cruise lines are probably fairly similar.

No guest under the age of twenty-one (21) will be reserved in a stateroom unless accompanied by an adult twenty-one (21) years of age, or older.

This age limit will be waived for minor children sailing with their parents or guardians in adjacent staterooms or under-aged married couples (proof of marriage is required).

Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Royal Caribbean International's age policy for gambling and consumption of alcoholic beverages is as follows: Please note: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for the entire cruise vacation.

Well every cruise line has rules and most of them tends to say that one of you have to be at least 21 if not 25. And most scls drinking ages is 21. So if youre both 20 something I would recomend you to wait untill after your 21st birthday. Its not that long after all and you will be able to do much more fun things. Another option is to travel with another couple thats is above 21 or 25. But if you realy want you can ask the cl and hear what they have to say. Youre so close so it could be ok. Johan.

If they require you to be 21, then you must be 21. Marital status, home ownership, occupation, blood type, shoe size will not effect teh requirements of the cruise line.

The only advise I can give is to search for a cruiseline that allows you to be under 21. They may not exist but looking is worth a shot.

Also, you dont have to be 21 to vacation out of the country. Just fly to Cancun or Aruba or Cozumel and stay at a nice resort. Its comparable in price and experience.

having a house and such doesn't change your age...just look into it maybe there are certain cruise lines that are 18 and up.

I think STRAPPER has the best answer. Just call the cruise line and ask. If you have to be 21, get another couple to go with you and switch. But, call the cruiseline. Your passport and driver's license will tell them you age and that is what they will go by. Or why not wait until you are 21 and MARRIED?

Okay, I'm a travel agent, heres the deal. One person has to be 21--usually if you have someone in your cabin that is UNDER 21 then you have to have someone that is 25 UNLESS you are married. Either way, two 18 year olds can't get on a cruise, married, with a house or anything else unless they have a parent. I suggest you wait until AFTER one of you turns 21, and you have your marriage license OR go on an all inclusive to mexico or something.

kaisatsu
Consider cruising with a non-US cruiseline. Since the drinking age in much of Europe is 18 rather than 21, some of the European cruiselines like MSC and Costa may have different age restrictions. Though as long as they operate in US waters, they are restricted by US regulations, and their US-version sites might reflect this. You might have better luck trying to book a cruise that departs from an international port.

I would contact a travel agent that specialises in cruises, and ask them to help you find available options given the age restrictions.

You're correct that most cruise lines require passengers traveling alone to be 21 or 25. However, many of them make an exception for married couples. Whether or not they would ask to see your marriage license, I don't know....

You might try posting the question at CruiseCritic.com, maybe under "Ask a Cruise Question" [click on "Boards", then go to your topic]. You could phrase it as, "Does anyone know whether the cruise line will ask for marriage license for 20-year-old couple to cruise?"

You will have to join CruiseCritic to post your question, but it's free. People there are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Depends on the cruise i guess.
If the cruise give out alcohol..... I dont know.
Ask the cruise manager!

Why not? It's possible at over 18, actually...as far as I know...

joe
most cruises are 18 and up unless parents and all that whatever, but all you need is a credit card, and you should be set

Angryguy2008
You could definatly go on a cruise as long as you have a valid credit card you can do pretty much anything you want to as long as your over 18. Good luck and have fun on the high seas!
