Can you book a cruise the month before? |
Heres my dilemma:
Im a young professional just starting out in the business world.. and money is tight. However, i have decided to save for a cruise that departs the week of Sept 20th- Sept 28th of this year. Me and my boyfriend have already taken that week off.
We have No specific cruise, no specific port ( i live in florida so have four major ones in driving distance) and are definately willing to be flexible.
This being said.. i wont have money until august 15th aka.. a little over a month before. Will any rooms still be availabe? I could care less which room i get.... an inside guarantee is fine with us.
Im just worried that a month before the prices will skyrocket or the ships will be sold out or something! |

la428282, I've booked cruises a couple ways. I've booked online recently, but I've also had good success with local travel agents . They can still create great packages that are as good as many online travel brokers. I found a list of local cruise travel agents here: http://www.cruiselinesrated.com I belive that you can get the best price in one of two ways, book way early, or book at the last minute. Have fun! |

You can check out discount now for cruises with "vacations to go". you can get some ideas of what is still available. Go to the 90 day clicker. I have booked with this company before and they are great. If possible, book it now and put it on a credit card. Then pay the card off asap. Also it is a good idea to have a major credit card for your cruise anyways. That way you don't need a bunch of cash and everything you buy while on the ship will be charged to your credit card. |

I booked a cruise on Friday and sailed on Thursday once. So yes, you can as long as there is space avaiable for them to sell. |

1 month before is cutting it close, but if you do not care which cruise line or where you are cruising to, you have a better chance in finding something.
if you have a credit card, i suggest just booking now, and worry about paying the bill in august if you can.
If you would like more info, i am a travel agent.

Absolutely, you can book a cruise a month before. You might even get better rates then. This is about the time when rates start dropping so the crew can fill the ship before they leave port. |

There are no promises because it is possible that every cabin on every cruise gets sold, but it is highly unlikely. However, you should be able to find bargain as cruise prices go down the closer to the time of sailing.
During your vacation time I see:
The Carnival Valor sails from Miami on 9/21 for 7 days, visiting Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Martin. You can get an inside cabin for $450 each.
The Carnival Liberty sails from Miami on 9/20 for 7 days visiting Half Moon Cay, San Juan PR, St. Thomas and Grand Turk. You can get an inside cabin for $550 each.
A similar Royal Caribbean is $650 each.
Bahamas cruises will be between $200 and $300 each.
All of these cruises have been discounted already. I expect these prices to *not* go up at all, maybe down a little for the more expensive ones when you are ready to purchase in August.
(I didn't attach any links because I don't want to advertise for anyone) |

Rooms should still be available-and yes, you can book a cruise the month before.
I'm SURE that my director of travel will be able to hook you guys up with a great cruise at an even greater price-especially since you're so flexible on your departure port...
Will you email me and I'll give you her contact information? |
