Carnival has a network on their ships that allows you to use cel phones on their ships by using a different network. On my last cruise, I had a signal for the entire voyage, and I saw a lot of people walking around the ship talking on their phones, even out in the middle of the ocean.

Most of the cruise ships now have a cell tower on them that provides service to almost every carrier, the thing is you will pay for it, not only is it considered international service, it is a premium service and you will pay around $3.00 a minute to use it.

Your best bet is to wait until your ship is pulling into Port, then you will have the service that is available in that city. Which at the very least should be cheaper if not covered by your service plan.

You can get cell phone service while you are in close proximity to the cruise departure ports in Florida or other US cities. Then after you are out of range of land tower you can pay for cell service on some ships through their satellite network but the price is very very high, like $5.00 a minute. When you to to the Caribbean islands you can get cell service from the local cell carriers IF your cell phone and plan will work with the carrier on the island. The way to know for sure is to contact her cell phone provider and ask if there is service that she can get on specific islands. That is what my wife does to use her phone and she has used it on several islands

Depends. Does she have world wide service or just service in the country that she lives in? If she gets only service in North America, for example, than her phone is useless.

It depends on the carrier. I have AT&T and was able to get service on the ships, however the roaming rates the providers charge are quite steep $2.99 per minute. So I really would advise against using it at sea and to wait until she gets to a port. She should check with her carrier to make sure they offer service and to see what the roaming rates are.

Stuart
When she gets to ports of call, she may get a cell signal. But there are no cell towers out at sea.

naw not really cuz u out n da open oceans but if u close 2 a island dere is a 50/50 chance dat ur cell is gona work.
