Can you still smoke on cruises?

My friends and I are planning a trip and have come up with a Carribean cruise. We are all looking forward to planning the cruise. I'm the only smoker in the group and being able to smoke is my only major requirement.
Additional Details
I dont need to be able to smoke everywhere but it would be nice to have several areas out on the deck so I can smoke while lounging in the sun.

Yeah, cruises are about the last safe places for smokers. You will be able to smoke in your room, the casino, some of the bars, and one side of the 'open decks' where the pools etc are.

do you honestly think that no smokers go on cruises only? im most positive you are able to smoke on the cruise their are plenty others that are like you (that smoke) ........

There are designated areas on most cruise ships for smoking. Usually the port side of the open decks and the open air bars. The best place for information is thr cruise line web sites. there is usually information about smoking on board. Some cruise lines have banned smoking in cabins and balconies.
You can always have a smoke in the casino. Banning smoking there would seriously reduce the revenue.

Johan from Sweden
Most cruise lines will limit smoking to selected smoking areas only. There will usually be no smoking cabins and reasturants. So go to the selected area and youre free to smoke. If youre unsure were youre alouded to smoke ask pursers desk (information desk) and theyre will help you off.

Remember that if youre flying to youre ship the flights will be none smoking ones. Be prephered. Johan

Only in very designated areas. Also, be sure to check. Some ships like Carnival have non-smoking ships in whole.

If you have a balcony cabin you can smoke on it, although if the room smells even the slightest bit you will get a huge charge. There are certain bars and places around the ship that you can smoke, but depending on the ship, you may not be able to smoke on the deck because it is really offending to other people.

Hope this helps.

Yup. There are designated areas though, and you definitely can't smoke on the plane ride to the port, etc.

One side of the ship is designated as "no smoking" so that non smokers can get away from direct area of concentrated smokers. They do have a non smoking ship in Carnival's Fleet. You can smoke at the clubs, wine bars etc and in one half of the casino. You can not smoke in the dining rooms, library, shops, enclosed decks etc.

Kristin
they usually have specific areas where you can smoke.
then areas youre not allowed too

Yes there are certain areas where you can smoke and you can smoke outside on the deck but only in a certain area ask the concierge desk and they should be able to tell you. Have fun on your cruise :)!
