No, this is one of the things that cruise lines are definitely strict about.
If you bring alcohol back ot the ship and the security people find it they will keep it for you until the end of the cruise.
Even if you buy your alcohol from the shops on-board, you don't get it until your last night on board.
There are ways to get alcohol on-board, all it takes is imagination and few plastic bottles but I have never found the drink tariff on any cruise I have been on to be any more expensive than a local bar. |

I go on a cruise every year, and I always bring alcohol with me. Carnival allows "wine lovers" one bottle per day. Last year, between three people, we had 6 bottles of wine, a bottle of rum, a bottle of vodka and a bunch of little bottles of orange and cranberry juice.
Pack the booze really carefully in your CHECKED luggage. Do not try to carry it on. Make sure your bag is tight and you've got the bottles wedged in where they won't break.
You also do not need to pay the uncorking fee that they'll want to charge you. Call room service and request wine glasses and a corkscrew. No charge. Sometimes the steward will open the bottle for you and sometimes they will bring you a little plastic corkscrew. I have several now as souvenirs. Or just bring your own from home and you don't have to worry.
My friend and I open our bottle in the room, pour a glass each and then take the rest of the bottle with us to the dining room. No one has ever said anything to us.
Getting on the ship from port with alcohol is a little more difficult, but it can be done. When you go through security, they will tell you to go over to an area to check in your liquor. We always say okay and then walk right past the line and up the stairs. Don't go wait for the elevator, just walk right up the stairs. Be brave. What are they going to do if they catch you? Yell at you? Right. |

If it is found, it will be taken, put into storage, and returned to you at the end of the cruise, with the exception of those who are underage, in which case it will be thrown away.
I personally get awfully tired of people who are so intent on smuggling alcohol on board with the excuse of expense of drinks on board. It's a cruise! If you can't afford to pay your own way beverage-wise, you probably shouldn't be on a cruise in the first place. If your intent is to drink your way through a week non-stop, you don't need a cruise -- just a quiet beach somewhere alcohol is allowed.
By the way, I DO drink, but not to excess, and never with smuggled stuff in my cabin. I enjoy a cosmopolitan now and then and am perfectly willing to pay for it.
Sorry for the rant. . . |

You are not supposed to but if you put it in your luggage it will be ok. Just make sure it is well protected so the bottle does not break. The last thing you need is all of your clothes smelling like booze.
I would suggest ordering a whole bottle from room service once you get on the ship. The room service prices for whole bottles are as good or better than you will pay at home. If you buy a bottle at one of the on-board shops you will not get it until the last day of your cruise. |

Usually not. They want you to pay for their alcohol on the ship. |

On our cruise ship if you bought it ashore they kept it until you left the cruise. You could buy bottles of 'duty free' from the cruise ship itself and you could consume that in your cabin. Cruise lines vary, best to check the individual rules. |

Some cruise lines might allow it and some would not. It is better not to bring it to be on the safe side. Some people might even sneak it in a water bottle but I do not know what will happen if they discover it.
Cruise lines usually make their money this way by selling alcohol on board since the food is free so might not want to lose out by you bringing your own. The staff usually walk around and ask you if they could get a drink for you. They are in the theater by the pool and in the dining room. Have a look at the site below to see the policies for each line.
If liquor is bought on the islands or in the gift shop they will hold it until the last night. |

I have gone on Royal & Carnival and both trips I have taken a bottle of vodka in my CHECK luggage. Just make sure you wrap the bottle and stick the bottle in a plastic bag in case it breaks it does not gclothes over you clothes. Make sure it is well snuggled in check luggage.
Also on the islands you can get tax free and cheap bottles. We have purchased a huge water bottle and put all the vodka (clear obviously) in the bottle of water and got back on the ship. No one asks to open your bottle of water to smell it...lol..
My understanding you can take a bottle of wine on the cruise ship but they will charge you a cork fee of about $40.00.
Also if you buy any alcohol on the ship (tax free) or off the islands they will hold it for you until the last day of your cruise.
So don't worry about getting caught whats the worse they can do..take the bottle from you and give back to you the last day of your cruise.
Enjoy!! |
