Can you take hookah on a cruise?

are you allowed to take a full on hookah with its flavored tobacco and charcoal on a cruise ship?

I have seen people buying them in Turkey and Morocco as "souvenirs" and they were allowed to take them on board. They were kept "for safekeeping" by the security staff until the end of the cruise.

So realistically the answer to taking a fully working and prepared one on board is probably no unless you can disguise it as something else and hide it in your luggage.

Even if you did get it on board, most cruise ships have banned smoking in cabins and on balconies and only allow pipe smoking in designated areas, so unless you want to lug it about the ship until you find somewhere to use it, I would leave it at home.

Charcoal at sea? You want to set the ship on fire ? Contrary to popular belief, ships are moving objects and any candles, open fire, glowing charcoal are not to be taken on a ship.
And yes, there are sometimes candle lights in the Dining Room, which is supervised by the staff - so this is different...

so the answer would be no

NO.

It is generally considered drug paraphernalia and is a definite fire hazard. Leave it at home! But if you insist on taking it, I certainly hope you and I are NOT on the same ship! Sheesh!

Sure you can! And right after you take your "full on hookah" aboard, these cute little men in their funny white coats will come and take you away, hee hee, ha ha, ho ho, off to the funny farm and away we go.

Are you kidding ME? What are you trying to do? Set the ship on fire and kill everyone on board? Why don't you buy your own little ship, take your hookah, your shrooms and whatever else you may have and set sail for your own little island where the only person you will burn is yourself.

Listen, just because you like your hookah and smoke-filled aromatic aphrodesiac doesn't mean everyone else will.

I'm gonna say no but heck give it a try! I know when going threw customs that there can be no residue on it though. It has to at least "look like" a NEW hookah. It would be just a hassle, I wouldn't even waste my time with it. Just get some flavored cigars or something, so much easier and you don't have to worry about customs.

Geoff L
There are probabally hookers for hire on the ship. More likely they will take you for a ride.
