Carnival Cruise Dining Attire?

We are going on a Carnival Cruise in a few weeks and I am wondering about the dining room attire.

My husband is not a dress up kind of guy, and I am wonder if on the CASUAL dinner nights he can wear Jeans with a button up shirt?

I don't see anywhere under the Carnvial dress code where this is prohibited, only tank tops and shorts, althought I do understand it is recommended to wear a suite and tie.

Will we be kicked out if he wears jeans with a nice shirt and dress shoes?

My partner and I have been on over 30 cruises. We're off the Europe & Africa this spring and then Alaska this Fall.

You don't EVER have to worry about dress code in the casual buffet dining room. Its is ALL casual and there is tons of food of all styles.

You are SUPPOSED to dress up for the "formal" dining rooms on Carnival. I usually wear a colored t-shirt under a jacket and some jeans. No one has ever complained. I have seen people get away with less than that.

All in all....the casual buffet dining room is a better fit anyway. Choose your own food, however much you want... AND your table mates.

In the formal dining room, you will be seated with up to 12 other people at a table. Sometimes its cool and they are nice. Sometimes they are rude and its a nightmare. I'd rather choose my own table and be by a window in the casual dining any day.

Casual does not include jeans, but you will see a few people wearing them. Carnival does not strictly inforce their dress code, but you may feel uncomfortable being dress down from the other guests in the formal dining room.

If informal dress is important to you, you may want to eat dinner at the buffet, or at the pizza bar.

On the casual nights, yes he can wear jeans with a button up shirt. Most people wear khaki pants and a polo with dress shoes on the casual nights, but wear dress pants and a dress shirt on the formal nights. You will not be kicked out on the formal night if you wear dress pants and a dress shirt and a tie. You don't have to wear a tux then.

Have a great time on your cruise!

THERE ARE TWO NIGHTS THAT YOU HAVE AS FORMALS. THE REST ARE CASUAL SMART WHICH IS WHAT YOU WANT TO WEAR, ALSO IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE WEARING A SUIT AND TIE YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE TO. ON PAST CRUISES MY HUSBAND HAS WORN DRESS SLACKS AND A NICE SHIRT(HE TO HATES TO DRESS UP WHEN HE IS ON VACATION) AND HE HAS BEEN FINE. ENJOY YOUR TRIP YOU ARE ON VACATION

-On past cruises I have been on, all 7 day cruises, there haven been 2 formal nights, and 5 casual nights. The newer ships tend to also have a "no dress code" very casual dinning room, so check their web site and look up the details on the particular ship.

In the past casual meant no shorts nor t-shirts, but that was a few years ago. Good Luck.

No, jeans are OK in the dining room on the casual nights.

We have hosted a few large groups on Carnival cruises. My husband, his friend, my brothers, my Dad and nephews all worn jeans to the dining room and there were no issues.

Heck, my Dad even worn jeans with a sports jacket and cowboy hat to the dining room on the formal night and the only thing that was said was, Hey, there is John Wayne.

You will find that Carnival is fairly lax about the "dress code".

Carnival isn't very strict with dress code. Our first 2 cruises, I didn't bring a suit, just a nice button shirt and pants. I haven't worn jeans to dinner, but have seen others do it. One night is casual. Check your Carnival Capers. That night is ok to wear shorts to the dining room. On day 2, the captains gala is combined with the first formal night. I'd suggest wearing what you would normally wear to a wedding for that.
Oh, on the first night, when the dining staff does a dance, if you like that song and wonder what it is. Here goes: Les Ketchup - The Ketchup Song!!
Be sure to try the "Chocolate Melting Cake" It's awesome.
Bon Voyage!!!!
